Crafting - Licencing Books, Songs, DJ Tracks, Lyrics & Mix Master Station Always Available & No Threats From Producers

This mod is to stop any unnecessary delays and hold ups of our sim artists publishing and licencing their work. Default rules say Literary Digest has to wait a week per book, and the same for guitar, violin and piano music, DJ Mix tracks and lyrics. Pardon me, but which century are we in?

So now, whether it be publishing books through Literary Digest or licencing music, DJ tracks and lyrics through other radio producers, none of them will ever hold your creative sims waiting any longer. The fans demand all your sim's latest work, and the producers know better than to stand in the way of the fans with archaic rules and delays. The world does not stop turning, your sims don't stop creating, and the publishers and producers don't get in the way of supply and demand. Welcome to the 24/7 21st Century. Go to the mailbox and publish and licence all you want, whenever you want.

Five separate mods here. All work fine together in game for their respective publishing and licencing. Literary Digest and Licence Song are base game. The DJMix mod is for Get Together EP. Only use the DJMix if you have that EP installed. Licence Lyrics is a function of City Living EP, so only use that mod if you have City Living installed. Licence Pipe Organ music is a function of Vampire GP.

New Addition - December 2018 - As like all mods here, for the Get Famous EP, releasing Mix Master tracks has no silly blocking in place. Make 'em, release 'em, you are the boss. People want your stuff, people get your stuff. Simple. WTF planet are Maxis living on to say, but hold on a minute, - or a couple of days rather in this instance - you can't??? You, famous artist person, we the publishers must stop you because we do not want more business. And Maxis are part of EA?! Really??? The irony being, for this pack, the three Special Producers will get onto your sim a few days later and threaten them to make more... or else. Or else what? You'll sack me off and lose your hot property? So that I go off and sign with another producer and make them mega money instead? Have you lost your frikken minds?!!! Daft, daft. (Perhaps Maxis are finally having a dig at their EA overlords.) Anyway, this mod also stops those totally bonkers threats from coming your sim's way. Last thing you want is to have to make your sim change their name to a symbol to undermine their silly producer's inane rules, "in the absence of security..." (R.I.P Prince & George.)  No more threats. Take as long as you want to produce your art, no frikken deadlines or release dates to make you push out the dreadful, dire dirge.

BTW, I do like that Mix Master Station. Quite fun messing around on the remixing, eh? Good job, Maxis. Bloody good job. More of that please. Or have you now changed your name to a symbol? Go rebels!!! Fuck EA!!! :slapnut:

Interesting change, thank you!!!!

Hi coolspear I can licence songs anytime now, but found that licencing lyrics still has the one week limit.

Hi, so this mod isn't working for me - it's not even showing up in the Mods/Custom Content popup at the start of the game. I know this is most likely my bad because it's worked for everyone else. I'm probably making a stupid mistake, but in any case, would you please clear this up for me?

I've included a screenshot of the path I took to put the mods in, and I even gave them their own separate little folder in the Mods folder. Perhaps it has something to do with them being .rar files? Is there I way I can convert them to package files? Was I supposed to do that, but I'm too stupid to know how?

I absolutely love the idea of this mod, and I'd love it to work for me. I know this is probably my bad, so I'm very sorry for being dumb but please be patient with me :)

Thank you!

Hi @qazwertyuiop1234with "Tuning Mods" such as these you need to extract them from the rar folder and place the ".package" file into your mods folder. Any file that ends in .package should always be extracted from a rar or zip folder otherwise the game cannot read them.

Only the older types of "Script Mods" must remain in the rar folder. An example of this would be, If opening a rar and the contents within end in .py and .pyo, then leave them in there and place the rar in mods folder.

However, those rules are old, and most modern Script Mod files end in ".ts4script" and they should be extracted from a rar/zip in the same way .package files should be extracted.

Every mod I've made and uploaded here to date are all Tuning Mods, all .package files, that need to be extracted from rar first. Hope this helps.

Hi, I downloaded this mod yesterday and put it in my game immediately after my sim licensed the first song he wrote and I don't know if this is a bug or feature but he can repeatedly license that same one song over and over again and still gets royalties as if it's for multiple different songs. I had him write a new one today to see if the first one would clear from the mailbox as an option but instead he can repeatedly license both of them now. MCD doesn't show a conflict with anything and MCCC isn't throwing up any errors so I don't know what's going on with it if it's not supposed to do that.

  • Author

That's what this mod does. It's not an error. Any song or music a sim creates can, by default, be licenced over and over, you just have to wait for the Maxis cooldown period to expire before re-licensing older songs. This mod removes that cooldown period so there are no delays in licensing new - and old - work.

Licensing music is not like selling books. Selling books is a one-off deal only. Licensing music is a period contract deal. Just like real life - except there's no mod for real life license deals. :teehee: Some good lawyers that might help terminate a stifling license contract earlier than originally agreed, but no mods.

Lol ok, good to know my game's not broken so I can stop hunting for conflicts! The way it works is actually way more realistic than the way I thought it worked so def a feature too. Thanks!

Hey! Thanks for all your great mods!

This is my only mod regarding music and licensing, I can license multiple music but I haven't been earning any royalty on any of them, I'm not sure if this is the cause. No LE is generating though

@simoleon2k17 check Coolspear's list here. He's still updating  a ton of mods from that huge patch in November. He also took a little personal time over the holidays. Well deserved, I might add!! Anyway, I don't see a note on here from him that it's updated and I skimmed the list and I don't see it. His update post has more information!

@Suucherries, as Coolspear pointed out, he's off the modding trail for the time being. He will let us know when he's ready to check things out. Keep an eye open on this section and he will post for each board on what mods are busted or need fixing. And please check out the forum rules.

It's working but It doesn't complete the asperation 'earn $500 from licensed Songs'

(Nevermind I just didn't know how it worked. it works 100% fine)

thanks for locking your mods behind a mandatory account on some random forums and deleting them all from modthesims, it's SUPER convenient to make an account to download a single mod, I really love it

  • Author

The journey is often the more appreciated factor than the actual destination. And patience is always the finest of virtues while travelling.

Nothing "Locked" here beyond the standard practice of first registering a member account. Or would you rather we bundle everything up and send it direct to you at your earliest convenience?

SimsAsylum is home to some of the finest modders throughout the history of the Sims franchise. Regardless of my own history where I've hosted mods, you'll find a selection of mods here from the most highly regarded modders who have become household names to players of this franchise - on this "random forum."

And if it's anything to consider, some of my best mods have come about purely since I've been at this random website. That might never have existed at all had I stuck it out with MTS.

BTW, have you sent same messages to all other noteworthy modders who moved on from MTS, roughly the same time I did?

You see, legally, you have to register, because you need to if you intend to make comments, from anything to simple thanks messages, to reporting issues. It's a legal requirement to register. From your statement, I get the feeling you'd rather just rip and run, and be damned hanging around to make comments. Fuck giving feedback to the modder, I move in the shadows. Especially if so pressed to register, it makes you unhappy enough to actually make a comment! From a modder's point of view, I don't care for that attitude. Rippers and runners, if that's all there was, in the silence, you'd have no mods to download from me to begin with. And believe me, I'm still happy enough to hear your unhappy comments, than no comments at all. So this is an improvement, either way you slice it. :57b447a70b144_3(1): (And patience is always the finest of virtues while travelling.)

Look at it this way. You may have found a community in which you might actually enjoy.

Also, Coolspear gave you an excellent response! You know, he might have only said "you're welcome" and moved on. But he actually took time to answer you.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to The Asylum. I hope you actually take a minute to look around and enjoy the atmosphere and maybe participate a little.

Hello Coolspear, This coment makes me understand you better. often I prefer to be a ghost, honestly because english is not my natural language and I'm always afraid of saying something that could be bad said and misunderstood.

So here I'm saying : THANK YOU very much Coolspear, I truly love and use most of you mod - Thank you for all the time you spend for us to be able to play as we want the game to be :D

Yeah, because those are the only two options. Force people to make an account, or magically send them mods straight to their mods folder. Here's an option: Don't require an account to download things.

As in, actual legal? Or "These are the rules and I choose to word it this way which is cyclical logic that amounts to "You have to register because you have to register"? I somehow doubt it's the former.

Quote

From your statement, I get the feeling you'd rather just rip and run, and be damned hanging around to make comments.

Yes. Yes, exactly. Like 99.9% of mods people download for things. Thousands of people download a mod and 10 comment. That's how it works. Making an account doesn't make anyone more likely to comment. Do you do it for comments?

I searched for this mod. I found an old modthesims thread. I found the link to the mod. The link was dead, because the mod was removed. It took a while to finally find another download of it, someone had hosted elsewhere SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE it had been unceremoniously removed from modthesims (fuck the people who downloaded it and went back for an update, right?), but their link was dead too. In the comments I finally found someone linking here. Only to be met with a "Hey, register for our forums, for literally no reason!" roadblock?

Uprooting mods and moving them around is bad enough when it's 5 years past the death of a game and all the geocities webrings start being destroyed by time, but doing it while the game is still active? It's annoying. I was annoyed by it. I said as much. It is an inconvenience. Forcing an account on top of that is only more of an inconvenience. You are not owed or entitled to feedback. People making accounts are still more than free to download without giving feedback.  If I want to give feedback I'll make an account and give feedback. Are you really going to admonish people for not wanting to make YET ANOTHER account out of the hundred they already have around the internet to download some mods, and then act like the only point of making them is to get comments? And imply you'd never make any if nobody gave you comments? Give me a break.

And that's not even getting into how obnoxious it is to have to find obscure sites like this to find anything, when aggregate sites like modthesims exist specifically to destroy that problem, AND YOU PARTICIPATED THERE, AND THEN DECIDED NOT TO ANYMORE! We have a solution to the problem of mods like this- good mods! Good sets of mods! There are amazing mods here! We have a solution to mods like that being unknown, not getting attention, not getting comments- posting them somewhere PEOPLE ACTUALLY LOOK! How is any random person supposed to know this site and its mods exist? We used aggregates, we use modthesims, we use simsfileshare, we use sims4studio, but some off the path site like this? THe whole point of those aggregates is so it's easier to find things, and you've taken something that was easy to find and shoved it in a closet somewhere! It's baffling! At least mods slapped onto personal tumblr pages are accessible, and somewhat aggregated merely by being on a website with a tag system, but these? NObody knows these are here!

Not sure what the big deal is about creating an account. It allows me to get notifications about updates, etc. I was so thrilled finding @coolspear here and I respect his reasons for leaving MTS.

  • Author

A legal requirement, as in if a member starts hurling sexual or racial abuse, or any other type of written hate-based commentary that is against the law,  they can be traced and prosecuted - so goes the hope.

Furthermore, there is a reason to register if you're an amenable sort of person. Because you might want to make a comment, say thanks, or join in a discussion. But if your intent is to never do so, (And I know you're not alone in that.) but worse still make it known in the way you have, then as I said before, I don't care for the attitude and don't care if you never come back and never download another mod. That you would staunchly defend you're need to never even want to say thanks, never even give yourself the opportunity to do so just in case one day you had a change of disposition and might feel inclined, is supposed to make me thankful you use my mods? Again I say, I'm glad and thankful not everyone is like you. What a quiet, lonely and thankless world it would be.

@coolspear I know you don't need defending, but holy crap!  Such entitledness is annoying as all get out.  I was there when it all went down at MTS, and you had an excellent reason for leaving.  (Not that you need one.)  Then and now, I'm just glad you're still modding.  And since I don't say it often enough (big lurker, that's me): :tuflwr:

I've been on this site pretty much from the get go, mostly lurking, like 90% till recently that is and frankly this is my number one "go to" site for anything sims related. I've gotten "to know" several of the members here and also witnessed the coming and going of great modders. I truly appreciate the time and talent you and they have taken to make all of the sims games playable for FREE! Geez how hard is it to make an account to get FREE stuff that you don't have to make yourself to run your game better than designed? Give me a break! Thanks coolspear for having a very cool head over this person's post.:62::tuflwr:  P.S. I rarely use MTS, it's drastically changed from it's inception many years ago. :dont-no-smiley:

  • Author

Yeah, well. Some folks just don't get that sites like this rely on member donations to stay afloat. MTS, too, relies on donations, but also generates some running costs through advertising.

For someone bleating on so much about what is convenient to them, I thought would have understood, if not fully appreciated, the need for others to find convenience in their own methods and practices. That the administration of this site would need to know how many members it has, compared to how many donations are coming in. To have a huge amount of members and fuck all donations would be cause for concern, and a serious need to rethink strategies and what is occurring to create such an imbalance. You know, before the site goes under.

With nothing but rippers and runners, not even interested in ever making a comment, much less a donation, sites like this would be extinct long ago. All sites he compares to that have rip and run availability, also have premium accounts that charge monthly subscriptions, for those who want better service, more options, and such the like. Or other avenues to income such as advertising. Or both up the wazoo - looking at you TSR

He thinks his brutal honesty in what people really want is commendable - to himself at least. Then how would he feel if such brutal honesty was sent back his way, something along the lines you're no 'effing good as a member to sites like this one - particularly seeing you don't even want to be that - so why not take yourself elsewhere and darken our door no more. You know, in a thankless world full of brutal honesty.

You are the first and only person I have ever seen in this entire community to get upset about the idea of people downloading mods without leaving comments about them. "Rippers and runners" you keep repeating like it's an actual phrase, like downloading a free-to-download file is somehow a form of piracy, give me a fucking break. You're pretentious as all hell.

  • Author

It's my phrase, for people like you, that adequately expresses your attitude. That you contribute nothing, and are happy to do so, unless it's time to share your bitter, entitled sentiments when the world is not working to your convenience.

You started on a sour note, and were never going to budge from that position in your blind, self-interested take, take, take attitude. A ripper and runner through and through. Whether you like it as a phrase or not is irrelevant. I think people have had their fill hearing about what you don't like. Tatty-bye.

Ok @MandatoryAccount, I'm so sorry that you had to make your mandatory account, but now I kinda see exactly why TFM has done it, otherwise we get whiners and complainers. Boo hoo, you "had" to make an account.  Get over it! At least you found your mods.

Part of the reason that Coolspear left MTS is because he wasn't getting support from staff and members. Well guess what?? He gets that here. You do realize that he could have just up and left, right? That he could have just decided that he wasn't going to take the ungratefulness of some people and said the big old FU to us all. But no, he found this community of folks on this "obscure site".

If you hadn't noticed, this site is ad free because of people who want to see it going. Not so obscure!

As I see it, you have a couple of choices if you want to continue to benefit from all of the wonderfulness that is The Sim Asylum. First, read the rules! No drama is one of them. No bringing up drama from other sites is another. Another choice is to stop complaining! Either be glad that you found Coolspear and his mods or don't. I don't give a flying, well you know.

I am a moderator for this lovely piece of internet. If you don't like the rules, then that's totally fine! But you don't have to come her and crap all over everything just because you didn't get your way. My grandson has better manners than that, and he's 7!

So like it or don't. Stay or leave. Totally up to you. But do not come back and gripe again. I won't stand for it.

Ooooh, what a beautiful troll-thingy have we caught ourselves here! :spiteful: Indeed, these evil rules with having to register somewhere. SO annoying! :impatient:

And Coolspear, he is SO dependent on our comments. He wouldn't do any modding if we wouldn't regularely bow to him, crawl backwards and hail that cool dude. And he NEEDS our perfect writing, because he's so bad at writing himself, yeah. :57b447afa7cbb_19(2):

Mr/Mrs MandatoryAccount:  You already grabbed a lot of attention now (that was not your purpose, of course!:rolleyes1:). Well, try to outwit Coolspear!!! :muchies: Good luck with that! :evilone2:

I'm sure he will cry into his beer because of your nasty thoughts. He will give up his job, call his shrink, repent and wail. Maybe he'll create fake accounts to leave comments for himself (you don't know if most accounts here ARE Coolspear's own accounts, ruling the Asylum's world in evil secrecy :nervous:), cause he SO SO needs cheers after each and every sentence he utters. And he's got the time, that lazy modder, having stubbornly left behind the friendly MTS site, now sneaking around here with his small amount of mods, so dependent on our feedback.

Man, Coolspear, you lazy butt! If EA/Muxxis haven't achieved to put you off from modding, the mighty MandatoryGuyGirl will see to it! Watch him flee the naughty premises, Coolspear is finally defeated. :crying:He will rip the last comments and run, and we all should do the same, just grab his few mods and run for our lives.

MandatoryAccount then can create his own site (without mandatory accounts) and take over the little work of Coolspear. Shouldn't be much effort. Eeasy-peasy. :good-luck:

@Kimi: Sorry, couldn't help myself.

well, one good thing from this oh so unhappy mandatory account person:  i feel obliged to donate to this wonderful site, where even as a troll, we speak our freedoms loudly.  i love how this person was responded to, respectfully and professionally.  This is a site worthy of my contribution!

I am very glad that I made an account here. There are many great modders here. They take their time and put hard work into creating thier mods so that others can enjoy their game even more. So if making an account is what we need to do, then it's worth it. Also I like to thank the modders for their time and hard work because they don't have to do it but they do. I thank Coolspear because I found this site because he moved his stuff here. Lets all try remember without these modders the game would not be as good as it is. Thanks Coolspear!!

:yourockthumbsup:

BTW, while we're bitching about feedback, this mod is completely broken with famous sims and gives them 2 stars of fame for every lciensed song. Thanks fort he broken mod, maybe if you hadn't been so busy crying about how people don't praise you you would've had time to notice your mod doesn't even work.

Enjoy your echo chamber, I see youve got a lot of brown noses around here.

A fool and his mods are easily parted. Cheerio. And maybe go see a professional about that streak of horrid spite that's causing you to make a continual ass of yourself.

I just hope to god there is no-one near to you in life that your relentless mean streak is now going to take it out on. So for that reason alone I'll not respond any more to your desperate attempts, and have nothing more to do with you. Hopefully this finally gets you your ultimate wish you've been crying out for in every post you've made here, and that membership you never wanted to begin with is finally taken from you.

@Kimiplease, give this joker what he wants; no membership. He'll not quit otherwise, not in him. Hasn't got the good sense god gave a tree stump.
