This mod is to make our sims write faster. It is an original idea by MadameButterfly and first posted in MB's section of this site found here - http://simsasylum.com/tfm/index.php?/forum/305-madamebutterflys-garden-of-mods/

I took up maintaining this mod after MB retired from modding TS4. Its function has been kept exactly as MB first intended and, as such, I will quote her original description of the mod.

"When sims aren't goofing off they can actually get a lot of work done. In this mod, goof off time has been reduced, allowing a mid-level sim to whip out a book in about an hour. Of course, that hour can fluctuate due to a sim's skill level or mood."

I recently came across another mod that edits identical files as the ones in this mod. This one was done by LittleMsSam originally at MTS2, a bug fix for the progress bar above the Sim's head not progressing after the Sim quit writing a book. I couldn't locate her mod at that site or her new site. I am wondering if it is possible to look into whether there is a bug with the progress bar not updating after the Sim quit writing a book or not. If there is, is it possible to incorporate the bug fix?

Hi @ChaavikI think this might be related to the issue where a sim who stops writing a book they'd started, then the game goes through a loading screen, deletes the started (unfinished) book from their inventory. (Not sure how that messed up the green process bar.)  Maxis reported that they've fixed this in last patch, which was reflected in the XMLs here for this mod needing the update.

Though I have yet to get any sim to start a writing project to see exactly what has changed. Next time I'm in game, I'll get my author sim to write a new project. His sci-fi "Sims In Space" epic, bestseller trilogy needs a prequel novel - for the fans you understand

So I'll see what's up when he does that.

Thank you very much for all your patience and hard work!! Just have one question: My Game is patched to the latest patch level, but when I have this mod in the game, my Sim starts writing a book and then almost immediately stops. And again and again . (He seems to dislike being an author? ) Has anybody seen the same or has an idea what causes this?

Do you have a pet in the house? I didn't have this with writing, but my sim kept stopping her computer programming to play with her cats.

Hi @PerditaWhen the sim stops, exactly as KayBee suggests, is there anything else that popped into their queue that forces them to do something else? Or is the action queue empty every time and they just stop and sit at the computer doing nothing? Worst case, does the sim reset and just stand by the computer? Details are important to get to the root.

As it will be some time yet before I can actually get in game, I won't be able to check on reports as efficiently as I'd like for at least a few more weeks. So now, more than ever, details are key, so I can know what to look for when I do, finally, get in game.

I have a cat, yes, but the action queue of my sims is always empty, if he stops writing. He doesn`t reset, he just starts writing a book, I fill in the title and after the window is closed, he just stops and does nothing but sitting in front of his pc and staring in the sunset . ^^ I deleted the mod for the moment and will download it again. (Maybe that`s just silly , but hope always dies last thing?) I will tell you immediately, if anything changes.

Thanks for the details. So it does not happen if this mod is not installed? Maxis have attempted to fix an age old problem of sims having their work cancelled in their inventory if they take a break and return to continue later. Could be connected. I'll know more once I test in game myself.

I feel really dumb now, cause after I deleted your mod, downloaded it once more and put it "back" in - everything works as it should. "Your Sims Game - the unknown Creature"?!  But to be honest I`m glad now that I can play again as before the patch - thanks to wonderful creators like you! I really love your mods and won`t ever play without them again!!!

I'm wondering if you have a mod like this for songwriting? I couldn't find anything but if anyone knows any faster songwriting mods that are updated that would be great too. Thank you! 

Telford has the mod for that on MTS. He released it a long while ago and has been very good at keeping it up to date with patches. I use that mod myself. (Though have not checked yet if it's compatible with 1.44) Are you referring to that mod when you say you can't find any that are updated?

And I always get a bit confused with this, as the Maxis language does get confusing, as it should rightly be called music writing and not song writing, as it's only pure music on the instruments. The actual song writing on the microphone they call lyric writing. (A rose by any other name...)

Yes, it hasn't needed an update since 1.36, which is why that is the last thing reported by Telford. I've been using it, too. Knowing it WAS fine all the while. "Was" being he operative word.

As, despite the recent report from would-be helpful MTS users that it's fine after Seasons patch, I can tell you now without even looking yet that it is not fine. The mod uses Interaction XMLs throughout, and they were all hit by the patch in several places in the coding structure. Telford's mod would not have escaped this. It will need an update for 1.44.

As I said, I do use the mod, though I will not be rushing to make an updated version to post here. Given that Telford has been excellent in updating the mod thus far, and given the time of year, Telford is most probably enjoying a summer vacation somewhere, and will update the mod soon enough, I suspect.

Though if too much time does pass and the mod is not tended to, - and that would have to be a good couple of months at least - then I would consider posting an updated version here with all credit and respect to Telford. We'll cross that bridge if and when the time comes.

Yes I hope Telford updates it because without it, it takes way too long to write a song. It's crazy they made it that way.

I'm not sure if this is Maxis doing.

When my sim gets the option to write a Non-Fiction book, there is no pop up window to assign a book title, and when I get the royalty reports, it lists these books as "Debug", instead of any title. I read this thread but I could not see any reports on this. Is it an issue? Is it fixable?

Also, a sim has to write four books or articles (very fast, thank you) in order to fulfill the daily task quota. Is it possible to make it so that they need to write fewer works?

I'll check. My main sims had to write books recently due to a News Year's Resolution they had to fulfil before a deadline. There were no issues that I could see.

Though there are so many types and genres I did not check them all. "Non-Fiction," you say. I'll give it a try.

Is the four books/articles as daily tasks for a particular career? I'm not familiar with it.

The general writer career requires that sims write books for some levels before branching out into journalist and something else that I cannot recall. My sim was a writer and progressed and I got her into journalism. She has to write articles for her daily task and I noticed she has to do four in order for the quota to be fulfilled.

I am using your mod and my sim writes fast, which is great, but it would be great also if she needed maybe two books/articles to fill the quota.

This mod and the faster painting mod started acting funny for me after the August 8 patch. All royalties and painting sales were frozen at $250 even though they were level 10 skilled. I took both mods out and the sales returned to varying amounts. Anyone else experience this?

@starstrucksh, it's most likely because the mod hasn't been updated yet. Coolspear has a list for every section that will have the mods listed that either 1) need updating or 2) are fine. He has indicated in another post that he hasn't even patched yet, as he is still working on the last round(s) of patching. 

I would remove the mods that haven't been updated and wait for word from Coolspear that all is well.

do you have by any change the mod from littlemisssam,for higher pay ments on paitings,books,songs,apps,games ectra? that could conflict with this one,i don`t have any problems with this one on level 10

I've just finished checking all mod for 1.54/1.53.

To corroborate with Lars and confirm with latest patches, this mod did not need an update for 1.54/1.53

Okay maybe I have something conflicting. Would anything in MCCC conflict? Hmm

Just want to inform you that the faster writing mod is broken with the patch today. Just tested it and it's not working ;( I hope you are able to fix this and other mods as soon as possible. Without this mod it makes no fun
