Doctor Career Reimagined Part 1 - Doctor Interactions - Updated for 1.107.151 July 2024

This is Part 1 of the Doctor Career Reimagined mods set. It will be for all mods in the set that are specific to our doctors and their career interactions. Although they are designed to work in harmony with each other for the best effects and results, you don't have to use them all if you don't want to. Pick, choose, mix and match whichever ones you like.

Get To Work EP is a required install for these mods to be of any use in your game.

 

1 Task Gives Max

Using all four "careerDocSG" package files in this rar, will cover all tasks that our doctors perform at all ten levels of the career. The function of this mod is to max out the Daily Task Bar after doing only one task. This frees the player from being locked into a daily repeat grind, struggling to do the same chores over and over for ten levels of dire monotony, just to stay afloat in the career. When doing only one task, and maxing the Daily Task Bar, your are then free to do whatever you like at the hospital for the rest of the day. Do more tasks and help more patients if that suits your Hippocratic work ethic, or just plain mess about and have fun. You're a brilliant worker at the end of each day whichever your choose. Your job, your way, you are the boss.

 

Less Examining & Quicker Diagnosis

By default rules, our poor doctors, (Even level 10 docs!) are going to have to go through every examination type with every patient to finally deduce and diagnose the illness. That's a six/seven step grind every time, every day of their working lives, for every adult patient they'll ever examine. Then there are the children, who cannot use the treadmill, so our doctors are always left with a final 50/50 guess as to the child's diagnosis. No more of that, please!

This mod makes it so all our doctors need to do is either two small bedside examinations, or one big examination via the X-Ray machine or treadmill, and then the patient is ready for a final diagnosis. That's right, any two of the five bedside examinations, check ears or check eyes, you choose which ones, and the patient will be ready for diagnosis. Or just one big examination in the X-Ray machine, or a run on the treadmill, then the patient will be ready for full diagnosis.

No more six/seven step grinds or 50/50 guesses. Your job, your way, you are the boss.

 

Charisma Diagnosis Success Bonus

This mod is to guarantee that all those smooth, charming, sophisticated doctors with a high Charisma level (9-10) will have a successful diagnosis. Because even after examining the patient, eliminating all guesses down to only one diagnosis, our unskilled, low level doctors, and even some high level docs, can still get it wrong. Such is life. But now with a high level doc with high charisma, then never. We want our ER Charismatic Clooney docs to be fantastic, don't we? Of course we do. Your job, your way, you are the boss.

 

Quicker Analyse Patient Sample on Chem Lab (10 Minutes)

Going down from an average of 30 sim minutes! (Ouch!) to a tidy 10 minutes. Upgrading the machine does not seem to have an impact on time spent analyzing samples. Just less chance of machine breaking. And analyzing patient sample on a broken machine can take anything up to 60 sim minutes!!! (Double Ouch!!!)  This again has been reduced to a tidy 10 sim minutes. (Since it's those idiot co-workers who always break the machines because they just won't leave them alone, why should our docs have to suffer a penalty? July 2024 - Not Any More They Don't. Yay! Too busy helping patients now!)

 

Quicker Computer Use (10 Minutes)

The Enter Analysis Results and Update Patient Records have both been reduced from about 20 minutes to 10 minutes.

 

Paid Time Off (PTO) No Cost

This mod allows any doctor at any time, for as many consecutive days as you like, to phone in sick and take a paid day off work without any negative outcomes. Even on day one of the career for a new doc with no vacation days in the bank. Just phone in first for each day, and don't ever worry about angry bosses. Eventually the unused vacation days your doc earns will mount up. So then you can take out this mod for a while and spend them in the default fashion. Your job, your way, you are the boss.

 

Career Level 10 Doctors - Less Workdays

The Level 10 Doctor now only works on a Tuesday for a twelve hour shift. And that's it. Wages for the day altered to reflect this, so the same is earned as working all week. Little bit more actually. And the Level 10 Doctor is on the same wage rate as the Level 10 Scientist.  

This gives the level 10 Chief of Staff doctor sim a lot more free time throughout the week to improve their lives in other matters, or maybe work shifts in other self-employed careers. Your job(s), your way, you are the boss.

Note: No other levels of the career are used or edited in this mod.

Notes July 2024 1.107.151 Update: It used to be the single day was 10 hours on a Wednesday. But then High School Years came out, and I've modded that to high heavens for teens to only go twice a week, so Tuesday was the better time slot for the doctor career when living in a household with HSY teens. And 12 hours because the hospital is so much more fun now with major update to co-worker mods that you will probably want to stay that little bit longer. (High School mods coming soon.)

I should imagine the original mod will still work as nothing changed to the code, but this mod now seriously hampers the major rework done to the co-workers mods. They now autonomously use all these machines to help patients so the length of time using the machines must not be tampered with. If you are going to use the latest reworked co-worker mod then absolutely get rid of this mod.

Hi Coolspear, I am using the less examining faster diagnosis in my game and all was working well until I just updated to the March 23rd patch. Now when my sim is at the doctor career they can only perform one examination like take temp or scan body and once they have performed that all the rest are greyed out. Then if the doctor on duty manages to come over and diagnose before I choose the transfer patient case then I no longer get the option to treat them as it is greyed out even though they have the red heart above their heads. If I transfer the case to the leading doctor then I can treat the patient. Can you please recheck to see if this mod needs updating? Once I took this mod out the game went back to normal but alas I hate how it takes so long to diagnose a patient without this mod.

Just been playing my doctor for the past two hours (2 X 14hr shifts at hospital) and I'm not seeing this. All is as it should be - considering the career is still broken since City Living patch. I (normally) refuse to play the doc career these past five months until Maxis confirm they've fixed the broken pregnancy emergency events. After your report, I thought they may have done one of their sneaky fixes again, the ones they don't put in patch notes and make new XMLs for. But nope, all's the same at the hospital. Certainly no problems with examining and diagnosing as far as I can see.

Bearing in mind I use a temporary (Ha, five months is temporary?) mod I've never released, to prevent emergency pregnancy events from happening, lest they truly mess up things at the hospital. Did any of the borkage you are experiencing happen on such an emergency pregnancy event day?  

No not that I am aware of. I started a whole new game with a new doctor as my top ranking doctor displayed this glitch. The glitch still happened. I thought once i got her up the career path a bit more (when able to diagnose without having to transfer patients) the glitch would go away but it didn't. As soon as I took the mod out it worked fine. 

The only other mods i have that affect career are the x ray upgrades and quick x-ray mods by you or my own stay at work longer mod. Hmm i might take the other out and just check this one on its own. 

I don't play with many mods mostly no autonomous mods and im a stickler for checking for updates to every mod after EA patchs. 

I'm going to do a bit more testing and get back to you. 

I do have a no buy vendor machine food and drinks at work mod and a no making coffee at work mod so i will now check those out too. 

 

Man i really hate patches, you get the game just how you like it and Bamm another update buggers things up. I will post back any findings

Argh. I think it my stay at work longer mod. Some of the files in the sim data files have changed. Some lines have been removed and others added. The tuning files are the same but the sim data files have changed. I don't know how this will affect other files but i am updating those now and will retest. Never thought to check sim data files as the tuning files had not changed. Bugger

 

On a side note, playing with no mods (except these career mods) nearly drove me insane. The amount of hand washing and drinking stopped them from doing what i was directing them to do. 

 

They were also able to do a guaranteed diagnosis after only performing one test which didn't happen while other mods were in. 

 

Oh well i will be back to let you know how it works after i update my mod.

Did you fix it? Yep, the last patch changed a lot of SimData files. The only released mods I had to update are ones that use SimsData files. The mods altering workdays or school schedules. Removing an unneeded (problematic) line of code from many relating to bonus pay or something. Maybe trying to fix the overmax pay problems with the City Living careers, perhaps.

After updating my stay at work longer mod (15hour work day) and running the game it was still not doing the right thing. I was even stuck at work so in fact my game was worse. I took out a Nonautonomous phone action mod and I was able to leave work. I again took out all other mods and only added yours and mine back in and the game is working ok for the most part. Some patients are still appearing with the guaranteed diagnosis already available even though I have not admitted them. I am now going back and re downloading a few other mods like the visitors not spawning in front of venues and some others mods that I simply don't know how to make as they are python made (script) mods. Obviously a combination of my mod (sims data files) and I am guessing some other mod that is also borked because of sim data files caused the errors i was having. Im sorry that i jumped to conclusions thinking it was this mod that needed updating. 

All mods i have (not many really) are only ones that are kept up to date by creators. I don't have MC command centre or posepacks or traits as it bugs me having to update constantly.

Any way thanks again for all that you do to help make the game enjoyable to play. If i find the mod that really borked my game i will post back.

I too am now experiencing problems at the clinic. It use to work perfectly. Patients come in and take a seat waiting like normal Sims. now they are standing all over the place like lost zombies. When I tell my active sim to do anything in her required chore list. She just stands there idle as if we don't have a clinic full of patients lol. I was even on the clinic lot for work and it told me I was missing work. If someone could please help me get my clinic running back to normal it would be greatly appreciated.

That is actually a patient type that Maxis coded to come to the hospital. I think specifically for the low levels of the career, to watch the diagnosis doctors go at them autonomously. Usually they actually have no real illness so the diagnosis docs may very well send them home as cured before you can get a look in. But, this is Maxis coding, and it is borked. Seen when the patient is leaving the hospital, they still have the red icon above their head and still with the sickly walk. Great job, Maxis.

If I actually played the hospital any more with any enthusiasm I'd look into it. If Maxis ever damn-well fix the broken Emergency Events (Pregnancy Emergency still broken six and a half months now and counting. It's getting so players could have a real life pregnancy and birth in all that time Maxis neglect to fix!) I would most likely edit those patient types and stop them coming to the hospital as level 10 docs simply don't need to see them and I personally do not want to see "cured," discharged patients walking out of the hospital as if they are about to drop dead.

has supposedly fixed this issue:

"Added a work-around to fix a core EA code issue where the wrong library is being referenced.  This caused players that were working through the doctor career to get blocked by the task to deliver a baby."

I haven't tested this scenario yet to see if it's really fixed, just thought I'd pass on the info in case others find it useful.

I verified this afternoon that Deaderpool's fix works in my game. I was able to complete the "deliver baby" event with no problems (for the first time ever!)

Coolspear is still updating his mods from the patch last week @Simtastic72. I'm not sure if he even knows yet about today's patch. Modders here post a new thread each patch that's for mod compatibility. He was only just posting today in his General Mods section and hasn't worked his way to this area yet.

@Simtastic72 - Please be patient with the modders here. Like aparkinson said, modders here tend to post a new thread everytime a new patch comes out, detailing which mods (if any) need to be updated for the newest patch. Until they confirm all of their mods have been updated, don't attempt to use outdated mods with the latest patch. So, example, if you have a mod made for patch 1.29, don't use it with patch 1.30 until it's confirmed by the mod creator to work with that patch. Unfortunately though, that isn't so easy, as some modders (not here, anyway) haven't updated their mods in a long time and/or have seemingly disappeared from the community; consider these mods to be unsupported and used at YOUR OWN RISK!

@Simtastic72 No one was talking down to you. Great8Girl was just being nice, trying to be helpful, and explaining how things work around here. A lot of people play test mods so we always explain why that is a bad idea. Children aren't allowed here, so we never speak like they are. I'm going to assume you are having a bad day and that's why you misunderstood her intent.

Also, when you can't see someone's body language or facial expression it's hard to determine their tone. You thought she was being condescending when she was being helpful. Your comment sounds snotty and rude to me, but I'm sure that's not how you meant it. Please keep that in mind when reading or replying to posts. We're a friendly group here, we don't talk down to anyone. Thanks! :smile:

I'm sorry for misunderstanding you Great8Girl.  I was having a bit of a bad day that day so i guess thats why. My fault I took it wrong.

Hey, I know this mod needs to be updated, but is anyone else having an issue where they get thrown to neighbourhood view? Everytime I try to follow her to work, it throws me back (just about to test sending her alone and seeing if that helps me out)

First, apologies to you guys. I had no idea the mod was outdated. He'd updated his Scientist Career, so I automatically assumed (an error on my part) that it had been updated too.

And I have read through the posting rules, but I think I may have glossed over the multiple mods thing, and will endeavour to remember and post once from now on :)

@Jenn & @Jyslin It's been a long time coming, but finally uploaded the workday mod. Sorry for the delay. After Maxis broke the careers and have left it so long to fix them, I lost a little interest in them, especially the doctor career.

Aww, thanks! I really wish they would sit down and just fix everything that is wrong, but I guess tossing out packs for money is more important to them.

 

 I am more of a science career person myself.  I have only done the detective one once, but it was interesting.  I really like your hospital and science building, makes the careers much more fun to play.  I never really had any issues playing the careers, but the goals got so tedious.  I once had three "clone a sim" goals in one day.  I was, "Not even going to happen."  Which is why if there was only one career mod I could have in my game, it would be the one goal is max.

Heya Coolspear, first let me say I love your mods and I use pretty much all of them. That said, there is a little problem in the Doctors career I noticed. I don't know if it is introduced by this mod or if it is a problem in the base game itself (never played without mods ;) ). What I'm speaking of is patients getting of the examination bed as soon as you have them sit down on it and you not being able to examining them. There is a very small window, when you can get stuff done, but it is very very small. Also this happens only with patients that come in after the work day has started. When you get to the hospital in the morning you usually have 6-9 patients already on the lot and if there is a free exam bed, they will sit down and stay down, but every patient that comes in afterwards is a pain in the ass to deal with, as they constantly get off the bed and run around the hospital. It is very annoying!

You say that you've updated this mod, but I tried it again today and saw no changes. I was taken to the world map again when I tried to follow my sim to work. Did it break once more, or did I install it wrong? From your list of downloads for the doctor career, I chose:

- AllStaffAllDays_NN_ICE

- Co-workerStrategy2 (Essentials Only)

- LessExamining/QuickerDiagnoses

- Patients don't leave/complain

- Quicker analyzing, computer, and x-ray

- Then, there's also the 1Task files for coworkers, doctors, "interactionSim," and whim.

Are any of these causing a conflict with another? Or are any of these particular files outdated? I was using the game version of 1.30 when I first tried this mod today. I then saw that my resource file hadn't changed since March, so I deleted that, and I also finally updated my game with the June 15th patch. I tested the mod again and it still didn't work. So. That's all I can say. I don't know why it's not working. 

Update: This happens with and without your mod. It's a game bug, I assume, but I really don't know. When I removed your mod, I was able to follow my sim to work, but I was booted to the world map when I tried to join him at work the next day. The difference is that the world map was presented immediately with the use of your mod, while the base game has some chance of working and not working.

I'm just going to assume this is a game glitch, but I know nothing about this sort of thing, so I can't say exactly. I don't think it's relevant to your mod. You can just ignore my last reply. :)
