those parts lack some parts - curved walls in builds for example - bur are generally top notch.
         a real competion to EA.

cons

the "live" mode needs a lot of work, autonomy especially.

after olaying around a bit, i have a lot of zois running hungry all over town 😛

the real issue is the small font (i play it on a 17" laptop), but it *is* manageble.

After an hour, I only gone one character created. And I didn't even do everything I wanted. 😄

One of the problems with the small font, as mentioned previously, is that it's not only small but also typically white on a light grey background. Hardly the most readable combination for players no longer in their teens or twenties.

One of my annoyances with Build Mode is the way a floor texture 'flood-fills' all contiguous space. For example, I wanted my kitchen to have a tile floor and the hallway outside of the kitchen to have a wood floor. Couldn't be done. I even built temporary walls, painted both areas with what I wanted, but as soon as I removed the temporary walls the game immediately flood filled the whole space with a single texture.

The only way to maintain separate floor textures is to have a door, which I didn't want between the kitchen and hallway, I just wanted an wide opening. It would be nice if they added archways for walls that act as doors in terms controlling the retexturing. And in several widths, not just a single door width.

Also the ALT key modifier to allow free adjustments (off grid) does not work when trying to adjust the pitch of a roof. I was trying to line up two differently sized gable roof sections and the height kept on jumping from one grid snap position the next. I couldn't freely adjust them to match.

For normal clutter items, I couldn't find any towel racks for bathrooms, which I found surprising.

This is about how long it took me to do my one character as well; I also didn't get to do near as much discovering as I would've liked before I was simply just too tired and went to bed.

I came here with this same small annoyance, as I ran into this exact issue myself last night.

Here are my thoughts/observations so far:

Some of the little details they put in this game are almost mind blowing.  When I sent my Zoi out to explore her world a bit, when she came to streets, they had pedestrian crossing lights where my sim actually stopped walking and waited on the corner for it to actually change to allow crossing! 🤯

For me building is definitely an adjustment and you can also tell that it is in early release as there are definitely not a large amount of options to choose from.  That being said the stuff they do have definitely lifts the bar for life simulator.  For kitchen, they have an actual ramen maker where your Zoi just pushes a button and they get a nice hot bowl of ramen quickly- which they then actually use chopsticks to eat.

The autonomy is definitely in early stages of development and it is noticeable.  When my sim had to go to the bathroom she went all the way up to the 3rd floor to use the bathroom, instead of the toilet that was closest to her.  When her hunger was much lower then her other needs, left to her own devices she decided to go upstairs and work on I think it was public speaking in the mirror instead of getting food.  When I clicked on her hunger instead of cooking a meal, she just grabbed some soup - which by the way according to her automatic dislikes she didn't even like, but she continues to choose it unless I actually click on her stove and tell her to cook.

When her food was ready, instead of eating it at the kitchen island which was closest, she went outside to her dining chair on the balcony. :hmm:

Also, she met a couple gentlemen one which she was attracted to and they got along really well; however after she left the beach he sent her a text message and she was able to respond, but after that so far I've found no other way for them to talk or text. :sigh:

The computer has very limited options for them at the moment so far and so far what I've found is there is nothing for them on the computer for fun.  And there are no travel options either by phone or clicking on your Zoi.  So to travel you have to go into map and choose where to go from there.  Also I haven't found a way for my Zoi to swim in the ocean yet

All this aside, so far I feel this is definitely going to be a great contender for Sims as long as we keep in mind they are 2 very different life simulators.

The only way I've found so far is to call them over.

  1. Click the relationships button in the lower right corner.
  2. In the Relationships panel, click the Call Over button.
  3. Click the Zoi(s) you want to come over, they may need to be Friends or better, not sure.
  4. Click the Call Zois:1 button and they should run over to meet you, pathing can sometimes be weird.

Then you can talk to the Zoi or whatever it is you want to do with your gentleman caller.

There may be other methods such as using your smartphone to text them but I haven't found them yet.

So far I haven't been able to actually use the text feature to send something else after her gentleman friend messaged her first.  It said something like "in development" or something like that.
