Developer Bug Fixes And Enhancements For InZOI

I thought it might be useful to start a separate thread listing the latest updates from the developers which include both bug fixes and enhancements. These are coming fairly quickly and are detailed enough that they tend clutter up our main discussion thread about the game.

@Kimi, this is just a suggested addition. If you think if would be better to fold this type of info into main thread, please feel free to consolidate this thread.

To kick things off, HotFix 0.1.6 (source here) mostly addresses Zois' reactions and conversations while in an "intense emotional state" to make their behavior feel more natural, plus some bug fixes.

The item "Fixed an issue where Zois would automatically switch to their rabbit hole work uniform even outside of working hours" is one that was especially bugging me. Glad to see the devs address it.

Gameplay Update

️ Conversation now reflects Zoi’s Primary Emotion
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Previously, Zoi’s conversations were primarily influenced by personality traits and chemistry with others. We’ve improved the system so that when a Zoi experiences one of 22 intense emotional states—such as euphoria, rage, or despair—their dialogue and behaviour now reflect that emotional context more naturally.
[Targeted Emotions] Excitement / Joy / Enthusiasm / Ecstasy / Elation / Laughter / Hysterical Laughter / Euphoria / Anger / Rage / Irritation / Discomfort / Displeasure / Humiliation / Embarrassment / Confusion / Fear / Dread / Surprise / Despair / Depression / Shock
This change reduces awkward interactions that don't match a Zoi’s emotional state. Now, when a Zoi is experiencing an intense emotion, their reactions will reflect it in a more immersive way. When emotions are less heightened, conversations will continue to flow naturally based on day-to-day chemistry between Zois.
You may also notice more intense or even aggressive behavior when Zois are overwhelmed by strong emotions. To keep things balanced, we plan to introduce systems in future updates that help Zois calm down more naturally.
️ Karma Interaction Improvements
1) Psycat Alerts Disabled
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Psycat alerts that appeared when the city’s karma level declined will no longer be shown. This change is intended to reduce the feeling of unnecessary judgment during negative situations and help players stay immersed.
2) Karma Rating Criteria Adjusted
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] We’ve revised the evaluation scale from “slightly bad or lower / normal or higher” to “bad or lower / good”. This adjustment helps prevent overly frequent negative evaluations caused by minor fluctuations.
3) Reduced Frequency of Karma Choice Prompts
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Karma-related choices were appearing too often and interrupting the natural flow of gameplay. We've reduced their frequency to allow for a smoother, less disruptive experience.
4) New Conditions for Karma-Related Interactions
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Karma interactions will now consider a Zoi's emotional state and relationship dynamics, resulting in more immersive and context-aware dialogue.
5) 50% Decrease in Karma Interaction Selection Rate
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Karma-related interactions were occurring too frequently, sometimes triggering behaviour that felt out of place. We've decreased the selection rate by 50%, allowing karma changes to progress more gradually and in line with the game’s overall pacing.

Gameplay

️ Fixed an Issue where time continued to pass if the “Play as Existing Family” option was selected in ghost mode and the “No Household Members” popup was left open.
️ Fixed an issue where pregnancy attempts were incorrectly handled when the household has 7 members.
️ Fixed an issue where MY Textures applied to walls, floors, or ceilings were displayed with incorrect materials.
️ Fixed an issue where applying a building preset containing deleted or missing AI textures did not properly remove the unavailable textures.

Ambition/Goal

️ Fixed an issue where only certain dialogue options were counted toward the “Have a Positive Conversation” mission.

Career and Interaction

️ Fixed an issue where a married NPC with jobs would automatically change back into their work uniform even after manually changing clothes.
️ Fixed an issue where Zois would automatically switch to their rabbit hole work uniform even outside of working hours.
️ Fixed an issue where queuing the “Propose Marriage” interaction with a Zoi in a set relationship would trigger moving in without completing the marriage.

Crash Fixes

️ Fixed a crash that could occur when editing color or material during Build or Create a Zoi mode.
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Alongside this fix, we’ve updated the way textures are sorted. All imported textures will now be added to the bottom of the list in descending order. Previously used textures will also follow this rule. For convenience, newly imported textures will now automatically scroll into view and be focused in the list. We hope this helps improve usability.

️ Fixed a crash that could occur when deleting a 3D print mesh while the Zoi was wearing a 3D print accessory in Build Mode.

Cahaya is coming! The DLC is expected to be released on August 20th. Honestly, I thought it would be a bit later since the live stream is on the 15th.

The main island (on the right) is where I think your Zois can live while they do things like farming, digging for gems and refining them, and of course fishing. All with an eye to selling your stuff at a vendor's stall. I hope we will also be able to do some of the current freelance careers like painting and writing.

To the left is the resort island (actually smaller than shown) where your Zois can relax at the resort or try various activities like snorkeling or visiting the Cat Temple of Fortune (of course :)))) Or even riding a motorcycle. Not sure if we'll be able to do that back in the main game worlds. I hope so.

It's sort of strange. I don't think the overall looks matches what I've seen of InZoi so far. I'm going to check the event you linked now. After taking a look at the page, I still think it does not match the overall InZoi "atmosphere", but I like it VERY much! :ha-ha:

That was a promise made by the devs, that any DLC developed during early access would be free. Latecomers will have to pay for it I guess. :dont-no-smiley:

The art style is definitely more, umm, playful I guess you could call it. But we don't know if those graphics will be used in the  game. They are sort of like the map view of a game world but maybe they were just created as inspirational / promotional images rather than to be actually used in the game. Certainly once you get down to street level with your Zoi I think it will look a lot different.

In the little window explaining the resort's facilities there's screenshot of a Zoi getting a massage. Instead of a towel, she seems to be wearing a bath robe of some sort. My prediction -- after the DLC is released, within an hour there will be a mod to remove the robe. :)))

The Cahaya livestream was pretty good, it showed interesting new bits and pieces. The version with English subtitles is available here. Go to the 12-minute mark to skip the countdown intro. In addition, this "Walking in Cahaya" video shows a lot of the new territory.

Something cool is that the new activities not just for Cahaya. The devs have tried hard to include them in the existing worlds too.

  •   riding motorbikes & scooters
  •   swimming in pools and the surface of ocean, but snorkel diving appears limited to spots where they've built underwater scenery.
  •   farming, digging for gems and refining them

There are various player controlled boats, you can even fish from them.

To address player complaints of not enough to do in the existing worlds, the August 20th update also includes many additional locations with stuff to do. Not sure if these are just more of the same or new types of activities. I need to watch the livestream again. The update also includes a revised user interface which is supposed to make a Zoi's feelings and current state more apparent. We'll see. Also, the little icons you see in map view for properties you can visit? Those now appear in the actual game world. I hope we can turn them off when desired, I suspect all those icons might clutter up your view of the world.

You can redeem codes to get three little goodies to use in Cahaya and elsewhere.

  1. Start your game and get your UID, found in Options --> Game Information --> UID
  2. Copy the huge UID code.
  3. Go to the redemption site and fill out the form, pasting in your UID and entering the item codes below.
  4. Item codes are HELLOCAHAYA for a beach chair, WELCOMETOCAHAYA for a tropical style rug, and HAVEFUNINCAHAYA for a beach campfire.
  5. The trinkets will not appear in your game until the update arrives on August 20th.

There's a new official inZOI forum. Probably will be easier to find info there than via Discord.

This DLC brought back memories of Sims 3 expansion packs, specifically Island Paradise. Took me about 20 minutes to find out where I had stashed away my TS3 disks. Thought I would compare it to inZOI's Island Getaway aka Cahaya.

TS3's Island Paradise EP was released in June 2013. Main features:

  • added the new world of Isla Paradiso
  • added resorts, scuba diving, lifeguard career, mermaids
  • houseboats, sailboats, and others
  • activities like building sand castles, walking on hot coals
  • new clothing, furniture, and decor items
  • some revised gameplay systems

Pretty similar in scope to inZOI's Cahaya. TS3 Island Paradise was $40 CDN in 2013 (equiv $55 today) versus Cahaya = free! Although the Cahaya expansion may eventually become a paid DLC once the game is officially released, unknown at this point.

Kinda feels like history repeating itself! :)))

I was thinking something similar when I saw that Zoi diving into the sea. I am very glad they have added so many features into the game at this stage, and the activities should add depth to the game, too.

I have made a new test couple that I want to be able to try Cahaya with. Ah!! The possibilities for story telling with Zois being able to act like castaways in a place that actually allows the scenery to support the story!!! I am in truth, very excited.  :6397:

The devs are warning that older saves may not be completely compatible with some of the new features:

Due to compatibility issues, some new features and content will be unavailable on preexisting save files. This includes features related to city expansions and updated systems, which can only be properly accessed on new save files.

"City expansions" I guess may refer to the additional locations in the existing cities (more shops, added pools). Hopefully they will provide more details when the update is released. Also, the text translations may not be complete. The full announcement is here.

Perhaps preparing a new pair of roommates for island life may have been wasted effort on my part. I'll try them anyway and see what happens.

I just made a new couple of Zois precisely for the update. I've not played them except for placing them in a house in Bliss Bay or whatever it's called. But that save will not work for the update, right? Maybe I could take the Zois from the 'library' and place them again after the update, and then the new features will be available, if I understood right?

I think you've got it exactly right. After the update you'll want to start a new game again with a new family composed of Zois using the same presets.

And yes, I meant "preparing" my current Zois by improving their skills, especially gardening. Oh well, the time I spent playing them wasn't entirely wasted -- I accidentally got the whole 'girl turns bad and goes to jail' story out of it. :))) Dunno if there's a jail in Cahaya. Maybe they banish miscreants to one of those deserted islands.

 

Edit: Now this cool. For this Cahaya teaser it looks like they used inZOI-generated video and post-processed it to give the hand drawn illustration effect, then added some special animated bits. Plus a very catchy song. Enjoy!

It was very nice, thanks! I especially like how it did NOT look too vernacular. In fact, I could think the character was a guy from any number of not Asian-centered places. LOVED THAT!!!

I must find the right channel to keep communicating my interest on a not too culturally delimited InZoi game and its features. Ahh! The future holds hope!

A huge update accompanies the release of the Cahaya DLC. Too much to post here but this Steam page provides all the details.

Haven't tried it yet but here are a few things that caught my eye:

  • Updating is a two step process: first update the game via the usual Steam process, then go to the game's DLC page and download & install the free Cahaya DLC.
  • "The ratio of negative conversations has also been adjusted to create a more balanced emotional flow". Hopefully 'balanced' means fewer negative drops in relationship.
  • New skills: swimming, fishing, handiwork (e.g. refining gems), collecting
  • Can now buy used cars for 1/2 original price. Don't know if there are any disadvantages to a used vehicle like breaking down or ?
  • Can store extra food in the fridge. Yay!
  • Can have group meals, but setting the table is designed for 1 person or 4 people. No romantic dinners for two.
  • "Socks are automatically removed when wearing flip-flops or slippers". Uh-oh, now your octogenarian can't wander around in sandals and knee-high black socks. 🙂
  • Can add a pool in Build Mode and swim in it. Yay!
  • Mods are automatically deactivated at first, and may need a minor update to work.

Edit: There's already been a quick hotfix to bring the game up to version 0.3.1:

I was just reading about it on Steam, and yes it's MASSIVE though looks like they packed quite a bit from our feedback into it, which I'm pretty glad of.  Getting ready to start a new game now & try to play with the new shiny :fnorky:

A friend of mine installed an app on my pc to help me check if the RAM or the Graphics card results insufficient for InZoi, and which could help me see what I'd need to improve to run it without crashing.

Take note of that last bit about automatically disabling mods. When starting up the game again be sure to go into the Mods section and reactivate them.

 

Edit: After having gone through the song and dance of reactivating the mods I'm using, my feeling is that the devs are being overly aggressive in disabling your mods for any update. I can see the two sides of this:

1) If mods are not disabled and they now cause problems with the update, players will tend to blame the devs and complain the game is broken even though it's the mod at fault.

2) However to deactivate mods, 3rd party mods in particular, the devs, without your permission, edit some of the mod's files and also may rename some of the files. This seems too aggressive in my opinion.

it's not too bad if all you use are mods from the Canvas thing, but that is quite limited. The devs seem to be stating that 3rd party mods are not welcome. Quite a change from the TS3 world I'm used to.

About the issue I was having, the friend who installed the app to check the resources was working on a network that required him to use a manual IP and he forgot to change it back or let me know. We chatted on Wednesday evening about the issue I was having, he fortunately remembered, and now, all is fine. I just haven't found the time to update and test yet, but here's the weekend!!!! :60:

Another small hotfix has dropped bring the game up to Ver 0.3.3. Note that if you apply it and run the game, you'll get that warning message about mods which means you'll have to re-enable your mods again. Sigh.

    Fixed an issue where certain babies’ hair appeared missing on the ‘Adoption’ screen.

    Fixed an issue where tomato pasta made with certain tomatoes could not be eaten or stored in the refrigerator.

    Fixed an issue where the ‘OK’ button in the reward popup was displayed in Korean.

Unfortunately Build Mode is still essentially unusable with the screwed up selection of items in lists. Affects other game lists, such as choosing a painting to create, but interferes much more when trying to use Build Mode. Sigh.

Another bug fix has been release bring the game up to Ver. 0.3.6. As usual, mods will have to be re-enabled after running the patched game for the first time.

A full list of the fixes below, but here's the big one for me:

    "Fixed an issue where auto-scrolling in Build Mode made it difficult to select furniture."

Thank goodness! That makes Build Mode usable again. Yay!

FzzyDg, the quantity of fixes may just be because they're catching up with the backlog. Who knows. I did get a chuckle out of this fix:

  • Fixed an issue where a deceased Zoi who had a relationship prior to death would continue to send text messages.

That would be amusing, receiving a text message 'from beyond the grave' so to speak. :)))

After that big October update I posted over in the wrong thread (sorry) there have been a couple of minor bug patches.

Most recently, one bringing the game up to Ver 0.4.2 consisting mostly of bug fixes. Full details here. The only one that really affected me was this one:

  • Fixed an issue where children participating in the “Trick or Treat” event did not return home properly after the event ended.

Yay! No kiddies hanging around after midnight getting up to no good. :wink:

This fixes a fair number of issues. The one that affects my game the most is "Fixed an issue where crops withered too quickly". Too quickly is an understatement. As soon as you planted new crops they were instantly "withered" and could never be revived. Some of the other bugs I had read about in the forum but never experienced them in my game.

No problem Firestaar, although my play time with inZOI is slipping I want to keep up with news about the game. I keep hoping to read that the devs have decided not to layer on yet more stuff but instead make what's there bug-free and useful.

There have been so many patches in the last few weeks. I'm glad they are keeping up on these. 

In a way I am totally glad to see they are releasing fix after fix after fix, but on the other hand, I wonder if waiting a bit longer to test the fixes together would help more?

With this update, Zois can now open and run their own businesses. Choose a business preset to set the types of services and activities supported by your business. Take on various managerial duties, from hiring and paying employees to finding a customer base.

  • [Business Types] Select presets based on business types to automatically set customer activity. Different presets are available for various types of businesses, including cafes, bakeries, restaurants, and bars, and each preset automatically configures a management environment suited to that business type.
  • [Business Activities] Use the Manage Business menu to select presets based on the services provided by your business. These presets will automatically set activities to match your establishment's needs, from "Drink Coffee", "Eat" and "Read a Book" for cafes to "Order" and "Drink a Beverage" for restaurants.

            ※ More business presets will be added in future updates.

Franchise Management

  • [Multiple Store Management] Multiple businesses can be owned by a single household, allowing players to run several establishments within the same industry or a franchise that spans multiple industries.
  • [Managing Businesses] Businesses are managed independently of property, allowing them to be moved to other properties or passed on to the household’s eldest member upon marriage or separation.

Employees

  • [Employee Hiring and Placement] You can hire acquaintances or household members as employees. As your business level increases, you will be able to hire more employees.             ※ If a hired employee already has an existing job, they will automatically resign from it before joining your business.

  • [Salaries]Employee salaries are calculated based on business level, salary rank, and working hours and are paid out after business hours. Employees can negotiate salaries through conversations, and long working hours may affect your relationships with them.
  • [Employee Autonomy]Employees will automatically perform tasks assigned to them, including taking orders, cooking, preparing drinks, displaying items, handling payments, cleaning, making repairs, and watching the counter as needed.

            ※ Employees must be Young Adults or older and will automatically clock in and out according to business hours.

Business Operations

  • [Manage Business Hours] Businesses open on set business days and hours. Business hours can be set to carry over to the following day.
  • [End of Day Operations and Accounting] At the end of each business day, both employees and customers will automatically vacate the premises. Profits will also be calculated and logged at this time.

Customers

  • [Customer Visits] Customers will automatically visit your establishment during business hours, staying for a set duration to use the services provided. Businesses with higher values will attract more customers.
  • [Target Clientele] Attract the customer base that best suits your business by setting the age group of your target clientele.

Satisfaction Management

  • [Customer Satisfaction] Customer satisfaction serves as a key indicator of business value growth and is measured based on various factors, including your relationship with the business owner, furniture quality, suitable prices, the frequency of using business activity services, employee responsiveness, and overall service quality.
  • [Real-Time Feedback] Customer satisfaction will be displayed in real-time through customer thought bubbles. Customer reviews shown at the end of each business day also serve as a source of detailed feedback. You can also ask customers for “Feedback” or gather tips by using the self-interaction option or by selecting “Search for Tips to Improve Customer Satisfaction” on a computer.

Profit Management

  • [Automated Settlement] Profits are calculated and logged at the end of each business day. Each business's total income, total expenses, and net profit can be viewed in the Profit Summary menu, allowing you to adjust your business strategy accordingly.
  • [Flexible Pricing] Service costs can be set in tiers from the Manage Business menu, allowing you to apply discounts or premium pricing to entrance fees and item prices.

            ※ Higher business values lead to higher customer expectations, increasing the basic level of service demanded by customers.

Running a Successful Business

  • [Customer Attraction and Service] The success of your business rests on your ability to attract and satisfy customers. Boost customer satisfaction and business value by placing the right furniture, using the right employees, and setting the right prices.
  • [Business Value Growth] The value of your business increases according to the level of customer satisfaction. Businesses with higher values attract more customers, allowing you to hire more employees and expand your business even further.

            ※ Higher business values lead to higher customer expectations, increasing the basic level of service demanded by customers.

    ※ You cannot use City Travel if you are engaged in any business-related activities.
        This includes owning a business property, having a registered business, or being employed by a business.
         To use City Travel, you must sell all businesses and business properties, or resign from your business employment. 

Crime
Not all Zois have to lead honest lives. With this update, Zois can now scam and steal their way into a life of crime, opening the door to a path paved in both danger and delight.

※ Crime-related features are currently in the early stages of development and will be updated with additional content in the future. Currently, only Young Adult and older Zois can commit crimes.

Thieves

  • Become a thief and break into property to steal items!
  • Various thief interactions have been added, including "Pick Door Lock", "Break Down Door", "Open Safe", and "Sabotage Surveillance Camera".
  • The success rates of thief interactions are influenced by Handiwork, Programming, and Fitness skills.
  • Some properties may have traps such as surveillance cameras and alarms installed.

Scammers

  • Scam other Zois for a chance to strike it rich!
  • Various scammer interactions have been added, including "Attempt Voice Phishing", "Scam In-Game Items", "Impersonate Charity Worker", and "Hold Fake Seminar".
  • The success rates of scammer interactions are influenced by the Rhetoric and Critical Thinking skills.

Crime Interactions
        Zois that meet one or more of the following conditions will unlock the first crime interaction available at Crime Skill Lv.0:

  • Owns 2,000 Mew or less, or is struggling due to excessive debt
  • Is under significant psychological stress from lack of family support or ongoing family conflict
  • Has the Rulebreaker trait or the Malicious characteristic

Suspicious Job Agency

  • The Suspicious Job Agency has been added, allowing Zois to take on shady jobs and collect crime information.
  • Use the Agency's Bulletin Board to purchase crime information.

Crime Scores

  • When a Zoi witnesses a crime, they will report it to the police. The responding officers may then issue an immediate fine or take the Zoi into custody.
  • Performing crime interactions increases a Zoi's crime score. 

Wanted Status

  • Thieves who successfully escape the scene of a crime may be placed under a wanted notice for one day and will be put under arrest if they encounter the police during this time.
  • The wanted period lasts up to one day.

Trials
A life of crime has its consequences. Some Zois may find themselves under arrest and forced into trial after meeting certain conditions. Outcomes are determined by choices made both before and during the trial, and Zois can appoint lawyers to improve their chances in court.
In addition to being a form of punishment, trials add additional depth to a Zoi's life.

Arrests

  • Zois with a low crime score will receive a fine if they are arrested.
  • Zois whose crime score exceeds the threshold can be immediately arrested by the police.
  • Zois placed under immediate arrest can post bail to secure time to prepare for their trial.
  • After being arrested, Zois who post bail will be released, while those who do not will remain in a detention center until the trial begins.

Appointing Lawyers

  • You can appoint a lawyer by selecting your Zoi.
  • Free lawyers provide limited assistance, while elite lawyers offer better chances of reduced sentences or acquittal.
  • When a lawyer is appointed, a trial preparation mission will be assigned, and its results will directly influence the opportunity cards that appear during the actual trial.

Trials

  • Trials will usually result in a guilty verdict. Not-guilty verdicts are difficult to secure and require special preparation. Failed attempts at acquittal may lead to even harsher sentences.
  • Depending on the outcome, Zois may either be acquitted, fined, or placed under police custody.
  • The trial proceeds automatically, but choosing the correct answers for the opportunity cards that appear during the trial can help reduce your sentence.

Courts

  • New court properties have been added. Zois scheduled to stand trial must visit these properties on their designated trial dates.

※ In this update, trials for “Traffic Accidents” will not take place. As before, Zois will be sent directly to jail. This will be improved in a future update


There has also been a lot of refinements and additions to Zoi interactions, skills, ambitions and urges, new clothing and build mode items, and tons of bug fixes. See this page for full details as well as screenshots and an introductory video.

I'm not in favor of time-limited game items like the ones they're adding for the holiday season. In my opinion, if it's in the game, players should be able to access it even if they start playing two months from now. This choice tends to force players to only play one game rather than trying different approaches since their later saves may not be have access to some of the stuff they would like to use. We'll see how it works out.

The crime system(s) are much more elaborate and I question just how much "fun" they'll be. Are players really interested in hiring lawyers and spending time sitting in a court while their Zoi is being convicted?

Well, I'll be starting up a new save to explore some of the new features. As always, I'll be sure to share my experiences and rants. :)))
