Developer Bug Fixes And Enhancements For InZOI

I thought it might be useful to start a separate thread listing the latest updates from the developers which include both bug fixes and enhancements. These are coming fairly quickly and are detailed enough that they tend clutter up our main discussion thread about the game.

@Kimi, this is just a suggested addition. If you think if would be better to fold this type of info into main thread, please feel free to consolidate this thread.

To kick things off, HotFix 0.1.6 (source here) mostly addresses Zois' reactions and conversations while in an "intense emotional state" to make their behavior feel more natural, plus some bug fixes.

The item "Fixed an issue where Zois would automatically switch to their rabbit hole work uniform even outside of working hours" is one that was especially bugging me. Glad to see the devs address it.

Gameplay Update

️ Conversation now reflects Zoi’s Primary Emotion
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Previously, Zoi’s conversations were primarily influenced by personality traits and chemistry with others. We’ve improved the system so that when a Zoi experiences one of 22 intense emotional states—such as euphoria, rage, or despair—their dialogue and behaviour now reflect that emotional context more naturally.
[Targeted Emotions] Excitement / Joy / Enthusiasm / Ecstasy / Elation / Laughter / Hysterical Laughter / Euphoria / Anger / Rage / Irritation / Discomfort / Displeasure / Humiliation / Embarrassment / Confusion / Fear / Dread / Surprise / Despair / Depression / Shock
This change reduces awkward interactions that don't match a Zoi’s emotional state. Now, when a Zoi is experiencing an intense emotion, their reactions will reflect it in a more immersive way. When emotions are less heightened, conversations will continue to flow naturally based on day-to-day chemistry between Zois.
You may also notice more intense or even aggressive behavior when Zois are overwhelmed by strong emotions. To keep things balanced, we plan to introduce systems in future updates that help Zois calm down more naturally.
️ Karma Interaction Improvements
1) Psycat Alerts Disabled
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Psycat alerts that appeared when the city’s karma level declined will no longer be shown. This change is intended to reduce the feeling of unnecessary judgment during negative situations and help players stay immersed.
2) Karma Rating Criteria Adjusted
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] We’ve revised the evaluation scale from “slightly bad or lower / normal or higher” to “bad or lower / good”. This adjustment helps prevent overly frequent negative evaluations caused by minor fluctuations.
3) Reduced Frequency of Karma Choice Prompts
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Karma-related choices were appearing too often and interrupting the natural flow of gameplay. We've reduced their frequency to allow for a smoother, less disruptive experience.
4) New Conditions for Karma-Related Interactions
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Karma interactions will now consider a Zoi's emotional state and relationship dynamics, resulting in more immersive and context-aware dialogue.
5) 50% Decrease in Karma Interaction Selection Rate
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Karma-related interactions were occurring too frequently, sometimes triggering behaviour that felt out of place. We've decreased the selection rate by 50%, allowing karma changes to progress more gradually and in line with the game’s overall pacing.

Gameplay

️ Fixed an Issue where time continued to pass if the “Play as Existing Family” option was selected in ghost mode and the “No Household Members” popup was left open.
️ Fixed an issue where pregnancy attempts were incorrectly handled when the household has 7 members.
️ Fixed an issue where MY Textures applied to walls, floors, or ceilings were displayed with incorrect materials.
️ Fixed an issue where applying a building preset containing deleted or missing AI textures did not properly remove the unavailable textures.

Ambition/Goal

️ Fixed an issue where only certain dialogue options were counted toward the “Have a Positive Conversation” mission.

Career and Interaction

️ Fixed an issue where a married NPC with jobs would automatically change back into their work uniform even after manually changing clothes.
️ Fixed an issue where Zois would automatically switch to their rabbit hole work uniform even outside of working hours.
️ Fixed an issue where queuing the “Propose Marriage” interaction with a Zoi in a set relationship would trigger moving in without completing the marriage.

Crash Fixes

️ Fixed a crash that could occur when editing color or material during Build or Create a Zoi mode.
※ [inZOI Team’s Comment] Alongside this fix, we’ve updated the way textures are sorted. All imported textures will now be added to the bottom of the list in descending order. Previously used textures will also follow this rule. For convenience, newly imported textures will now automatically scroll into view and be focused in the list. We hope this helps improve usability.

️ Fixed a crash that could occur when deleting a 3D print mesh while the Zoi was wearing a 3D print accessory in Build Mode.

Warning, rant ahead.

Hoo-boy, I'm not even into a new game yet and already I hit something stupid. When you use the Character Studio to create a new Zoi and you want to save them as a preset so you can add them to your family in the city, this message pops up:

At first glance this looks good. They've improved the Zoi preset so it includes not just what they look like but also their personality characteristics. And hey, they'll also save all those outfits you spend so much time putting together and recoloring. Nope, it says "outfit" singular, not "outfits". For some unknown bizarre reason it only saves ONE outfit, whatever is the current one displayed. All your work on the other outfits is thrown away.

it gets worse. So, OK, at least they saved one outfit, right? Not really. Suppose you happen to save the Zoi when they're wearing their cold weather outfit. Not uncommon since that outfit is the last in line so if you've been working your way through them, it's quite likely that's what will be showing. So the Zoi preset only contains that outfit, but when you load the preset, the game changes the saved outfit to the Everyday category, it doesn't stay in the category you created it in. Now your poor Zoi is all bundled up in heavy warm winter wear for everyday normal use.

So basically you always have to recreate all the outfits from scratch every time.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Oh yes, the update screwed up everyone's custom clothing so they can't be recolored any more. Everybody, especially clothing creators, are complaining about that one. Hey devs, ever think of testing your updates?

I very much hate forced game play. Having limited time items just doesn't seem worth the bother. I also hate grinding play. I am very much a sand box player and rotational player (with sims at least) and having to go through the same interactions over and over again just takes the fun out of things. Thank goodness for UI cheats in sims 4.

I am interested to see what comes to Inzoi next year.

I agree Rose, and an additional annoyance is that if you grind away to unlock something, it's only unlocked for that specific game playthrough.

For example, if you manage to catch all 52 types of fish then you unlock some special aquariums to add to your house. But only for the game you're playing. If you start a new game with some different Zois you want to try out, you have to catch all 52 types of fish again to unlock the aquariums again. Given how long it takes to do this (months) I think the Build Mode objects should be unlocked permanently so you can use them in all future games,

Even using the cheats to unlock the aquariums is time-consuming and tedious.

@FzzyDg8  I don't know about TS4, but TS3 seemed to be far less of a disaster than inZOI. Maybe that's just fond memories at this point but I don't recall scratching my head as often wondering what the heck the devs were thinking when they toss in yet another half-baked feature. With inZOI that's pretty much a regular occurrence.

@Klinn Grumpy mode aside, you're correct about gen 3 being far less of a disaster.  I'd be still playing 3 if I could get it to run but sadly had to shelve it for the time being.

There's been a quick hotfix to patch issues with the latest update, bringing the game up to Ver.0.5.1. Nothing too earth shattering but a lot of stuff that should have been caught during testing. Details below and here.

The game is progressing, but I agree that it seems as if they do the theoretically needed fix, without testing it from different moments in game. :myhead:

Kjun posted a look ahead to 2026 with their roadmap. There's a section called "Fundamentals First" but don't get too excited. This doesn't indicate an emphasis on fixing the basic underlying systems of the game, but rather the first seven Roadmap items they've already started working on.

As I mentioned earlier, there won't be a video this Friday. Most of the team is on vacation, so the office is pretty quiet. I'm not taking a break because I'm writing this post for you… just kidding!

To keep the inZOI team developing with energy and joy next year, I felt it was important to share our 2026 plans with you first and get your feedback—so I'm sending this a bit urgently. And then… I'm going to take a little rest too.

Our 2026 plan has two big parts: "2026 Roadmap" and "Fundamentals First",
a name we chose to reflect our focus on polishing and strengthening the core experience.

In 2026, especially as we move into the second half of the year, we plan to increase the share of work dedicated to Fundamentals First. That's why the scope of the 2026 Roadmap gradually becomes smaller toward the latter half of the year. I believe many of you will strongly agree with this direction.

There's one main reason I'm sharing this list: If you read it and think, "kjun, this isn't it! We need to improve something else first!"—I really want to hear that feedback. This list was compiled by reviewing posts across multiple online communities and Discord. There are still many issues we haven't solved yet, and we still have a lot to improve. Even so, I hope you can feel from this list that the team is genuinely doing everything we can to make this game better.

inZOI Fundamentals First & 2026 Roadmap

  • Some items may overlap between “2026 New Development” and “Fundamentals First”

  • The quarterly schedule for “2026 New Development” may be delayed or changed depending on progress

Fundamentals First

  1. Adjust umbrella handling so Zois hold umbrellas in their left hand, reducing awkward situations and allowing them to carry more items while multitasking

  2. Remove the door lock FX and outline when pressing the U hotkey

  3. Display mission-required interactions with an icon or move them to the top of the list so they are easy to find

  4. Make vehicles naturally decelerate on collision to reduce accidents and minimize driving disruption

  5. Add reactions to channel changes by another Zoi, and provide options to suppress TV interference or switch to watch together

  6. Improve group movement so Zois move side by side, look at each other, and play conversation animations while moving

  7. Support custom key binding for selected hotkeys

Family & Relationships

  • Include non-blood relations in the family tree and allow manual relationship labels

  • Allow autonomous actions for marriage and divorce

  • Add affection interactions such as forehead kisses and long hugs

  • Add a group action for lying down together on a sofa

  • Vary bed mood scenes based on relationship stage

  • Vary grief reactions based on the depth of the relationship with the deceased

  • Add multiple breakup outcomes and relationship states, such as becoming enemies or remaining friends

  • Vary reactions to witnessing cheating based on Zoi personality, such as seeking revenge, feeling grief, or attempting reconciliation

  • Add divorce lawsuits, custody disputes, and additional trial types

  • Enhance genetics system where body type, talents, diseases, and tendencies are inherited from parents

  • Add baby-related interactions such as baby showers and gender reveal events

  • Add children’s friend-invite parties and grandparent visit social events

  • Add family-oriented social events, including activities with children and family dining gatherings

Zoi Behavior & Autonomy

  • Keep Zois stationary while the player is selecting interaction options after clicking them

  • Cancel any ongoing interaction when a new interaction is issued via player input

  • Prevent food from disappearing when Zois talk while holding it

  • Prevent idle chitchat from interrupting interactions or NPCs from cutting into conversations

  • Expand the search radius when the same interaction repeats to find alternative actions that satisfy the same need

  • Have standing Zois approach seated Zois when starting a conversation

  • Set the default conversation behavior so the initiating Zoi remains in place and the other Zoi approaches

  • Prioritize player-issued interactions over morning routine behaviors

  • Add rules to prevent Zois from staying in one place too long and encourage returning home

  • Improve seating behavior so Zois avoid sitting with strangers and sit with acquaintances, with stronger tendencies for introverted traits

  • Prioritize interactions that relieve the most Hunger

  • Align auto-scheduled events so family members go out together

  • Disallow smartphone usage while sleeping

  • Reduce cases where crowds sit on benches in the rain to rest or eat

  • Use the closest object when multiple objects with the same function exist in a room, taking room boundaries into account

  • Enable chitchat in group conversations so multiple Zois can participate naturally

  • Exclude distant or incompatible Zois when matching cooperative group actions

  • Implement areas of Interest that allow Zois to naturally combine compatible interactions and move to appropriate positions based on context

  • Allow toggling group members’ autonomy from the HUD

  • Add controls to adjust married Zoi cheating and flirting autonomy rates, tied to traits and personalities

  • Allow Zois to eat street food while walking

  • Add unique Zois with their own events, stories, and personalities

  • Emphasize excellence when selecting traits and add unique outcomes for specific traits, initially focusing on the Genius trait

  • Add quests and tasks focused on personal growth or achieving life ambitions

  • Improve group movement so Zois move more naturally instead of in single file

  • Allow free placement of HUD UI elements and add a basic guidance notification

  • Place the Go Back popup in the bottom-left corner for easier access

  • Add hotkeys for major UI menus such as Zoi profile, job info, and schedule

While we are continuing to grow the team, it may not be possible to implement every item on this list in 2026—and some may even be technically impossible. That said, the good news is that some of the graphics content you've asked for (to make gameplay richer) should be possible to develop in parallel.
We're also considering better ways to gather your feedback—posting this list on other communities, or creating an in-game survey, for example. Because there are so many items, we'll need to set priorities. We're still discussing whether it's better to collect priorities by category, or to gather responses and read the overall trend.

What matters most, though, is this: in order to fix the most painful gaps as quickly as possible—so I don't feel ashamed when talking to you—we've already started development on items #1–#7 on the list.

Thank you so much for loving this project over the past year, even with all its imperfections. We'll keep pushing ourselves, and we'll build an even better inZOI with an ambitious and hopeful plan for 2026.

A few comments:

"Prevent idle chitchat from interrupting interactions or NPCs from cutting into conversations"  This one bugs the hell out me and other players. Should never have been in the game in the first place.

"Support additional vehicle types such as pickup trucks and convertibles"  Yay, they had convertibles in their promo vids and I thought they would be a great addition. You get to see your seated Zoi(s) from behind as you guide the car through the world, or swing the camera around to get a nice screenshot.

"Add a Fate Engine"  I have no idea what this means. Will your Zois not be in charge of their own destinies and instead are fated to follow some predefined course or outcome?

@RedMallie  I know you'll get excited over this one:  "Add K-pop and stage performance content"  Just what you wanted! :)))

Some folks in the inZOI forum pointed me to info about the "Fate Engine" that the developer previously posted on Discord (instead of the official forums -- go figure).

Canvastown is designed to be small but comfortable, running smoothly even on lower-spec hardware, while still giving players space to build and customize their own city. Jury is still out on this one, but basically they're going to be abandoning the 'large' cities they've created and let users play in small towns, i.e. something that they think their tech can actually support. From what I've read, it's not clear if this is intended to mesh with their multiplayer development. That could sink it, if there is no single-player option.

Sure, because people play life-sim games so they can only have one fixed character. Brilliant.

Rose, I don't like it, but I think it is related to how their original target audience communicates through online live discussions. Companies get 'immediate feedback', even if that feedback does not come from all types of players. The ones I think they targeted are from a generation of players who are most often used to and enjoy sharing whatever over online real-time platforms.

I would actually like smaller towns instead of the huge cities they have now, except, of course, for the multiplayer aspect. Considering my thoughts on the target audience I described above, I lean towards believing those players would not like 'towns' instead of 'cities'.

Most fixes are for the recently added feature for Zois to run their own business. Having seem all the complaints & reports pile up in the official forums, I was expecting this patch. Since I wanted my new couple to eventually try out that feature it's good to see fixes coming out first.

There's an update today to bring the game up to version 0.6.0. It is described as both a minor update and a major update. OK then.

It's mostly filled with new clothing and build mode items to celebrate the Korean Lunar New Year. Some very traditional outfits that look cool. Full list and details here.

For me personally, TS4 isn't appealing. So I guess the answer is "none of the above". :smile: We'll see how Paralives works out, even if the graphic style leaves me a little cold.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment.  I'd be interested to hear how you like Paralives, so I'm hoping that you continue to post in your thread about it.

Go back to TS3? No, we must move onward at all costs! :smile: I had lots of fun with it but that was then. I enjoy life sims and hoped inZOI would scratch that itch but so far, despite it's early promise, it hasn't turned out that way. But there are more than enough other games coming out to keep me amused.
