Any day now...

I'm not really one to gabble on about the "what ifs?" regarding rumours about the Sims franchise and/or TS4 specifically. Mercy be, there're enough Youtubers of late jumping on that bandwagon to make anyone sick of the idea.

But Maxis did say at the end of December that they'll be back in early January to clear up the mess of misinformation. So, any day now, then. Hopefully within the coming week.

It does leave me with a mild sense of excited anticipation. Hoping for what I have been waiting for them to say for ages, that TS4 is finally coming to an end very soon and no more patches. I'll be singing hallelujah on that day. I don't care one way or the other about there only being one last Royalty-themed EP to come, whether true or not I could not give a shit. Or if they'll be pumping out more Kits till the cows come home. Again, don't care either way if it ends or continues. I just want to hear them say the actual day, the 2026 date, when there will be no more TS4 patches ever again. Please, please, please.

Of course, thereafter, I can live up to the promise I made years ago, that if I'm still dabbling with modding TS4 when Maxis finally quit patching it, I will happily, happily, happily go through every last mod of mine on this website and update them all, rework all threads that could do with better descriptions and new information, and all that jazz. Happily. As well as release so many more mods that I never did upload here or anywhere due to the fear of them being murdered by Maxis patches. Hallelujah, indeed.

Dream on, dude. You just know Maxis are going to say there're plenty more EPs still to come for the foreseeable future, right up into 2027/2028 when "Project X" will be released.

So then, what are you good folks hoping they're going to say about it all?

So, so over patches too. I am just hoping they fix the, paint from reference, and memorial portraits, before they pull the plug. I just want to be able to go back to some of my older saves. Also would like to use mods without them being continually broken.

I would love TS4 to end as well. I don't now what else they can add without becoming redundant. I haven't truly played TS4 in a couple of years. I start it, build a little something, play a Sim for a month and then I am done. So I will add my dream to yours and we will hope.

I think they've found their golden egg goose in the Kits, which may mean less effort and more frequent income.

I'd also would love to see the end of patches to the game, because I am of that old guard that was used to receiving a finished product when buying something, even a digital product.

EA may say that there will be an end to those patches, but remember how they did that with TS3. They still got out a quite unnecessary patch shortly after TS4 was first launched in 2014. Also, if I'm not mistaken, there was yet another sort of patch to TS3 much more recently?

In truth, I don't believe EA at all anymore.

This, and that they got creators involved, who created far better content than they do.

I definitely can't wait to see this game end. I only buy the DLC really out of Stockholm's Syndrome more than anything. It would be nice to not have to update mods every 32 days. This would also allow modders to really delve into the game and get creative without having to worry about your mod going defunct in less than 6 months.

I am a bit late on this but I too am waiting on the end of the contant game patches. I make a few of my own mods and am sick of updating them so I fully appreciate everyone having to update hundreds of mods.

I refuse to buy kits and have not purchased The last 3 packs nor the infamous Star Wars pack. I will also not buy their Moola and even look at MarketPlace. At this point they have enough of my hard earned cash and I would rather chew my own leg off (not an arm because I need them to play Sims with) than give them another single cent.

@AussieMummy Hey there, long time no see. Glad you dropped in. Yeah, I really have been slacking in my modding "duties" for most of this year. The hope last January that Maxis would quit patching "soon" came to nothing. But they did mention a short while after Royals EP released at start of year that they intend to fix some of the Family Tree issues in the September patch. That's what broke my heart and my hope a little, because that was January and September feels like a whole frikken year away at start of year. But now only a couple of months left. I'm still holding on to the sneaking suspicion since they said that, that September will actually be the final wrap up for patching TS4. It just seemed odd to highlight a far away September patch in January. It seemed to me after hearing them say such a thing, means that is their hidden, shut off, close down deadline to finally sunset TS4. I dunno, it just feels like that... Hopefully.

And if so, then yep, I'll be glad to get back to cleaning up mods for one last big hurrah. But I just can't face doing that till they finally bugger off and the coast is clear.
