I did investigate a bit and it seems that if you own the base game on Steam (which is 75% off right now too) you can buy expansions and activate them on Origin. Right now the BG+one SP on Steam would be less than a SP on Origin.

Wow. So if I get the BG plus any SPs I want on Steam, all my original EPs and SPs will work on the Steam BG? That just seems too good to be true. :)

No, but you can get the SP code and register it on Origin. (At leeast that what I understand.)
