Cheers to Maxis for making me leave my own home so visitors will leave!

    That's quite an "achievement"!!! :gigglehands:

@coolspear even though what you said may sound as you said, chauvinistic, facts are facts. It is only a person who is intent on finding ultrage that will not find out the statistics you mention to see for themselves what is real and not an attempt at disregarding females. I am a woman and I believe in meritocracy. When I am not the best person for a job, if I know it, I don't even push myself forward for it. If I don't know it, I hope the one/s hiring can see in my CV why I am not the best fit for the job.

However, this reminds me one such event when the ones in charge did not hear that I said I was not the right person for the job. This was long ago at the start of my professional career as an educator, I am NOT good with children. It's not that I dislike them or 'hate' them; it's just that I do not understand them. Anyways, my director needed teachers for a program focusing on elementary school children and the asked for teachers of the institute to volunteer. Nope, I did not raise my hand for that job. Yep, after a few days they called me to the office and asked me to 'volunteer'. I said no repeatedly, but they kept reading from my CV all the qualifications I had, saying how they believed I would be great for the job. To my defense, I told them several times exactly what I just typed: I do not understand children. Without being threatening, they kep insisting until I had no other choice but to agree. I warned them that I would need backup for those ackward moments that would surely happen. They replied that I had their FULL support. :lmao:

One month into the project, I had suspended a 12 year old child / monster who kept calling his classmates and me all sort of stupid names. A week later I was thankfully replaced in the project and went back to teaching young adults and above without any other dramatic events. I don't doubt, however, that the outcome of that 'experiment' labeled me in a negative light in terms such as 'lacks empathy when dealing with young learners', or other such crap. And it is likely that the class or their parents considered me inept.

From that day to now, I do as I said in my first paragraph here above: I do not take jobs that I know I am not able to fulfill to the best of my ability-and that my ability is more than what is 'required' for the job. :smiletooth:

  2. :19: I was able to follow and understand the issue!!!!

Your rant is always delightful!! I hope it helps get some of the frustration out of your chest. I kept wondering in my mind, 'but surely, those devs do go through college at least?' when I got to the point in your rant where you suggest that surely they don't. And I do believe that they would lack the professional ethics to give a damn or admit they fucked up badly.

  3. I rarely use the game cameras to take photos such as selfies, or other types of "modern" pictures, because I am mostly playing "era" saves, where those would not be 'realistic'. That is to say, that I use mods to make photographs or paintings in game.

For photographs, which I love to make of my sims' families, I either use the camera mod by Ravasheen to make those whole fmaily portraits so that no one has to be the photographer, meaning I can pose all sims and make the camera take the photo by clicking on it. I have had some lag while doing that. I mean, the game went to limbo after clicking the camera: no shot taking view, nothing for a few seconds. I remember thinking that maybe the game was about to crash. But then, usually, it got out of the limbo and I was able to get the photos. At the time I was not checking the fps.

The other option is for paintings; I am using the Paint by Reference mod by Scumbumbo that LittleMsSam is keeping updated ay Scumbumbo's memorial. For this, I have one sim in the family master the painting skill, and then I have him or her use a game camera to take the photo but clicking on that option: paint from reference. I don't remember noticing lag in this option. And again, I was not checking fps.

For the past 5 hours or so, I was playing and the fps only dropped to about 23 when clicking build buy. But again, it went up to 59-60 almost immediately.

  4. This is your mod that fixes the moment to moment simulation lag, isn't it? Quicker Sim Autonomy & Simulation Lag Improvements

Because I have not understood its purpose for the longest time, I've not used it.

I am going to check if the fps count stays in the 50 to 60 range for longer than the hour or so that I was playing before. If it doesn't I will add that mod and report back. Now I understand much better what it does! :smiletooth:

I won't say happy hunting, as that would imply I hope you find it in your game. No, I hope you never find it in your game. But you'll know when you do, as the game is not only noticeably laggy but your eyes will not like the experience either as a constant 12 fps is just "bad noise" in the eye. So don't force your eyes to look at it too long. Not healthy!

    Thanks, heehee!

Well, I used the fps on cheat and my game works between 59.93 to 60.xx in Live mode. In Build Buy it drops to 23.xx as soon as I click the icon, but then it immediately goes up to the same fps as in Live mod (59.93 to 60.xx).

I forgot to mention that I also use Turbodriver's Simulation Timeline Unclogger.

Didn't realize TwistedMexi removed it until I saw you mention it.  Thank goodness for Modders cuz we sure as 💩 can't count on Maxis for anything.

Glad to hear that was useful!

@coolspear Thank you so really very much for your detailed explanation!!! The examples you used made it very clear for me now. I truly appreciate the time you took to do this. :thanks_glitter_graphic_07:

And if you say you don't experience any of that whatsoever, from the build mode fps tanking a while back, to the current state of affairs, then you must be on some miracle machine with miracle video card and monitor, not to mention miracle human eyes and brain that work differently from the rest of human ocular sensing. A super human in our midst, with a super computer, video card and monitor to boot. 👽 😍

Although the local lore explicitly says that where I live 👽 have set up a base in the coast in front of us that is in charge of batting away hurricanes, I do not think I am one of them. Yet. :batlashes:

So, I am going to check the FPS using the cheat fps on, like you explained. I'll see what I get.

I do have an Nvidia card that optimizes my games, but I am not sure what control it has over this factor.

Again, and again, and again, thank you for your patience in explaining this!!!! I am so glad you came to be part of our Asylum all those years ago!!! :tuflwr::hug2-smiley:

  7. What do you see or what happens when the FPS 'tanks'? I am sorry, but I don't understand everything you say when you explain technical things, and to my sadness, the effect of the fps is one thing I don't get. As a simple user like me, what would I see if this happened?

Yesterday I was playing a large house somewhat furnished, in Henford on Bagley. I was trying to summon some sims for photographs, and suddenly my game froze. I play in windowed mode because I have 2 monitors and I thought I had gone out of the game monitor but that was not so. The only thing I could do was use the admin panel to shut down TS4.

About Better Build Buy. I use this mod and TOOL by Twisted Mexi, but I stopped using the Better Exceptions mod after reading your comments about it (which I was able to understand, hehee). I have a different approach to CC and mods so that I don't get just any mods from any creator or cc for that matter, and I always test it all, and I get only very few alst exceptions now and then which mostly I have been able to associate with animations missing something. Anyways, please be patient with my ignorance, and thank you for doing what you do best and sharing it with us. I will always appreciate that.

  8. Oh, I didn't even want the shopping cart in my game. When I learned that a mod blocks it or hides it, and I already used that mod, I simply made sure to get the updated version.

I agree with the sentiment that EA keeps its customers held in a sort of abusive relationship. Good analogy.

Do something you like. Enjoy other games. Meet your son or your family. Relax. :consoling2: A game is not worth too much frustration. :smiletooth:

    And overall, :thanx:

  9. No, I didn't, @coolspear

You probably have noticed from the naivety / ignorance I sometimes show in my comments: I am not that savvy when it comes to understanding how to use command bar cheats--and many other things in the game, hahahaha!!!

Having to go through individual sims to make them behave more reasonably during rain events (and not have the LEs about umbrellas and other stuff flashing up like mad) would be above my level of committment to understanding features. So, when I cannot fathom what the hell the mod does, or at least, the main parts of it, I don't attempt to use it.

If your Little Zapper is a machine that can do the trick with an easier "mechanism" for a player like myself, I'd love to try it. I'll kee my eyes open for when you have a chance to check it for updates.
