I actually didn’t feel unsafe in Surrey, but my friends strongly suggested I didn’t stay there long. And this from friends who don’t know each other and who have lived in Vancouver for a number of years. 

A rowdy Canadian neighbourhood (<--correct spelling ) is one where they're not saying "Sorry" to each other all the time.
