The purpose of the Personal Storage mods here is to open up many objects in the game to have a new kind of storage facility that does not exist in the game.

Firstly to offer a unique storage hold for each object, so that it can hold absolutely anything inside which a sim can normally hold in their own personal inventory. No restrictions, If a sim can hold it, so can these objects. Secondly, to make each object its own private storage space, so that what you place inside one, will never be available when opening another. This is not Resident Evil, we don't want to find the same stuff in every storage box we open. And lastly, for this set in particular, to give each item the Live Drag function so you can drag the objects in and out of a sim's inventory, or command the sim to "put in inventory" or "place in world." So that our sims can carry them everywhere for quick storage use and access wherever they may travel.

Some of the objects are partial clones so as not to alter the original objects, others change the original objects so they pick up the alterations. I'll list that more clearly in the breakdowns below. For all those objects that come from Game Packs or Expansion Packs, you will need the relative pack installed for those objects to appear in your game.

In all cases, you will need the Add Storage Alpha mod. Then you can pick and choose the other mods relative to your installed game packs.

As well as the default build mode categories, I have made it so all objects here can also be more easily found in the Storage / Misc category.

Base Game X 10

Cloned X 4 - Buyer Beware Chest, Ornate Beauty Chest, Pandora Toy Box, Time Capsule. Cloned to be standalone objects so they do not change the functions of the original objects.

All others will override original décor objects.

Outdoor Retreat X 7

Cloned X 2 - Chillville Cooler, MegaCooler Cooler - Cloned to be standalone objects so they do not change the functions of the original objects. Also these two can now be placed on most surfaces unlike the originals.

All others will override original décor objects.

Get To Work X 6

None cloned. All will override the original objects.

Get Together X 1

None cloned. It will override the original object.

City Living X 2

Cloned X 1 - Globetrotter Suitcases - Cloned to be a standalone object so it does not change the functions of the original object.

Untold Treasure Box - mod will override original décor object.

Jungle Adventures X 2

Cloned X 2 - Gilded Treasure Chest, Unadorned Treasure Chest - Cloned to be standalone objects so they do not change the functions of the original objects.

Get Famous X 1

Cloned X 1 - Nothing To See Boxes - Cloned to be a standalone object so it does not change the functions of the original object.

Kids Room X1

Cloned X 1 - Travel Trunk Toybox - Cloned to be a standalone object so it does not change the functions of the original object.

Island Living X 1

Not cloned. It will override the original object.

New Additions February 23rd 2019 - One new base game object, a cloned version of the Time Capsule. Read above to find out which packs the rest are from and which ones are cloned objects.

New Addition July 2019 - (No Picture) The Mermaids Love Chest has been added to the set. Like most here, this one is not a clone and the mod will override the original object. Can now also be found in Storage / Misc to help find it quicker than searching for it in the vast décor objects section. So keep those merfolk happy with their own, unique personal storage trunk.

Personal update April 2020 - No new storage boxes this time. But a new feature to individually name all your storage boxes to make them more unique than ever. Name them after their owner, or the specific contents they hold, or both. Finding stuff in all your boxes has never been more quicker and easier with the new box naming feature.

There are a few Maxis rules worth remembering when using these objects.

1. Rules of Ownership.

A) If you buy storage boxes for a family on their own home lot, and over time they fill them up with many goodies, please make sure if any sims move out, they take their stuff out of the boxes before they move, otherwise they will not have access to the boxes once they live on another lot.

B) If while building on a community lot, you place one of theses storage boxes, no sim will ever have access to fully use the storage functions, as the box belongs to the community lot and not to any sims.

All in all, It's best to see it as a box belongs to the lot where it was first purchased, not to the sims per se. If a sim lives on the same lot the box belongs to, then they can do everything with the box to their heart's content. Even leave them on other residential and community lots where they can keep using successfully time after time, every time they return, knowing that no other sims (except from their own home) can access the goodies inside.

2. Objects with Surfaces

If any of these objects have surfaces where you want to place items on top as decorative objects, such as a nice crystal or fossil, then only do this in build mode. If you try to place such items on the surface while in play mode, by the rules of Live Drag they will go inside the object's storage space. In build mode the items will sit on the surface and never go inside the storage.

3. Rules of the Quantum Space-Time Fourth Dimension.

Okay, forgetting the humorous title, under no circumstances should you attempt to put a Personal Storage object inside its own storage space. At the very least, you will lose all goodies it was holding and cause it to lock-up, probably best to quit the game and reload if you do it accidentally. Worst case scenario, your paradox creates a supermassive black hole that swallows half the galaxy. You have been warned.

This mod thread covers no fading when zooming camera in and out of ceiling lights, some other objects such as trees, and sim routing fixes regarding these object types if and when needed.

The mods here are to stop the ceiling lights from fading when the camera gets too close, so they stay permanently visible. The idea for this on-going project was started by FakeHouses-RealAwsome at MTS. They did all the base game ceiling lights, (Except for one included here) and the lights from Get To Work EP. Then they did no more. So I have taken up continuing the project and adding all the newer lights that come with EPs, GPs and SPs ever since. The first picture here shows all lights that I have tweaked to date.

Use the FakeHouses original ceiling lights and those found here to complete the set.

Not strictly a ceiling light, but I did not like this pretty lantern tree fading out either, so I added to this set. This object is from Movie Hangout SP.

I will keep each set separate and relevant to the pack it came with, so you can choose the ones you need for what you have installed. In all cases you will need the relevant pack installed for these mods to be of any use in your game.

New Additions - 22 April 17

When the Kids Room SP first released, Maxis somehow made the ceiling paper lanterns of that pack no fade themselves. At the time I thought great, they saved me the trouble. Very recently I noticed them fading in game, so I can only imagine Maxis "fixed" that in a recent patch. Well I have now unfixed it to no fade like all the others here. I recall there is one other pack's ceiling lights Maxis released as no fade, (Get Together EP I think.) so now I wonder have they "fixed" those too? I'll look into it and post another unfixed no-fade version here if so. And if you know of any others that are not covered here, please let me know and I'll add them pronto.

Routing fix on Kettle Bell ceiling lights. Maxis deemed these as low-hanging chandelier type objects, where they have a footprint to block sims walking directly underneath. It was driving me potty on my community lot as I couldn't figure out what the problem was at first. My sims where throwing constant route fails in narrow corridors as they could no pass under the Kettle Bell lights. The headroom clearance is quite a big gap, they just do not appear as chandeliers and sims will never actually come close to hitting their heads on the lights while passing underneath, so why block them? Blockage removed. No more route fails! (Just don't go placing these lights in a basketball team's dressing room. Clank! Ouch!)

Update June 2018

Added a few base game lights that have found their way into the game via patches. I did originally make a stand alone mod here for the Cloud ceiling light. As it turns out there are also three other ceiling lights given in patches I missed to include. I have bundled them all up together in the mod for Base Game no fade. That mod used to have only one light in it, now it has all five. So the Cloud light is no longer a standalone download, it has been incorporated into the Base Game mod. Remove the standalone Cloud mod from your folder when installing this updated Base Game mod. Also the original Saucer light needed a tweak, as a recent patch made it start to fade again. (Grrr, Maxis.) This too has been corrected. Also be aware of the Base Game name change, from X1 to X5, as it will not overwrite the old version in your mods folder.

Personal update October 2019 - Re-sized blocking footprint on the two chandeliers from Get Famous. Added new No Fade lights from Moschino and from Realm of Magic while also reducing the blocking footprints from those lights too, so they no longer cause sim route fails. Why do Maxis think that's okay? Five years of this game now and they still think that shit is okay.

The Fantastic Free Fridge by Storage Galorage Ltd

Storage Galorage Ltd are celebrating the success of their very special business. And these masters of bending time and space to bring us all manner of mind-boggling household appliances, invite you all to join in the party. They have reworked this fridge into a unique dispenser of rare foods, drinks and potions. Best of all, the dispenser fridge is free, as are all the unique foods, drinks and chemical concoctions from within it. SGL are footing the bill for everything during this special time! - and indeed, space - And all you have to do is stuff your face, drink your fill, and enjoy the party. So raise your glass to SGL, as they continually raise the bar in the fields of science and commerce and... well... empty space.

Not as vast and expansive as the menus seen on the Cornucopia Dispenser Fridge, (Also from the SGL catalogue.) the foods and drinks on offer here are a little more select, concentrating on the rarer Emotion Foods most specifically. And, of course, all are free. Rare AND Free, now there's two words that are seldom seen sharing space in the same sentence together. Yet with SGL, anything to do with space and time is possible and never so rare to be beyond anyone's reach. Exactly. It's free!

The Fantastic Free Fridge is a partial clone of the Doc Sweet's Fridge that comes from the Spa Day GP. As a standalone CC object, it does not override nor alter the functions of the original object from which it is cloned. The Spa Day GP is a required install for this CC object to be of any worth in your game. (I will consider making clones of base game fridges to extend the range of the FFF if anyone desires. Just ask in the comments. Given that 1.44 broke the crap out of all my other drinks dispensers I may as well stick to expanding on the ones that actually still work.)

Find the Fantastic Free Fridge in Appliances/Fridges for the cost of absolutely nothing. SGL are paying for it all so you don't have to! They've made a gazillion simoleons from all their other remarkable gadgets and gizmos, so they just want to give a little something back.

New Additions February 2019

This mod has been reworked to first include new models, with new coding and the objects given plenty of décor placement slots. It is also now based on an Alpha master mod being the one that all other models draw their resources from. The Alpha object will need to be in your mods folder for all other models to function correctly. I did this reworking to specifically include an object from base game, so that all TS4 players can use and enjoy this mod. This base game object is the Alpha mod. It is a dresser turned into a dinner bar. Check out the pictures for the new models and all the new clutter slots.

This set of Drinks Dispensers has been reworked. This main post also needs to be heavily edited to reflect the new changes. One dispenser had to be removed, the Affirmation wall-mounted dispenser, as it was broken again for the umpteenth time in 1.49 patch, and not only am I sick of fixing it, but I had nowhere else to go trying to fix it again, could not stop the constant route fails sims were having when trying to use it. Akkk, enough already. Just let it die and be buried. However, after improving my modding knowledge on how to insert new slots for food/drink spawning and décor clutter placement, I made a few new models to make up for losing the beloved but continuously besieged Affirmation.

This mod set now works on the ALPHA master mod system, where one object is the master object, with all the functional coding that the rest draw their resources from. So the Alpha is needed in mods folder for all others to work. For this reworked set, I made that Alpha from a base game object, so that all TS4 players can now enjoy this mod. The Alpha is the Vidame Hostess, the object placed on the carpet in the above picture. Make sure you have that one first, as all other models require it.

The names of the mods have been changed too, as have many of their functions and coding, and even given more slots to place clutter. So it's best you just scrap any of the old ones you were using before and start anew with this set. The game will probably remove them anyway, so you may find the "Missing Objects" messages popping up here and there where the old ones used to be but exist no more.

They are designed to be Instant Drinks Dispensers that sims will use to grab instant cocktails, bar drinks and many of the mood potions. All five versions here, whether on residential lots or community lots, our sims will have to pay for the drinks they take, at the same prices they pay in bars and nightclubs. Each object also has cold storage availability, exactly like a fridge. Anything that can be stored in normal fridges can also be stored in here. Sims can and will use them autonomously for the bar drinks, but not for the potions.

All objects are standalone clones and will not override the original objects they were cloned from. All can be found in Appliances / Fridges.

The ones that come from add-on DLC packs, you will need those packs installed for them to appear in your game.

The fridge with the glass door is from Spa Day.

The three bigger cabinets are from Get Together, Jungle Adventures and Get Famous.

Also, if you do not have packs installed where some drinks come from, you will experience blank boxes in the purchase drinks menu for those missing drinks.

This mod is about altering some drink crafting interactions that came with Get Together EP. Those interactions are Make Favourite for self, Make Favourite for another sim, or Make Favourite for many guests at a party. I like the idea, but it just wasn't finessed. A sim has no such thing as a fixed favourite drink all their lives. Nope, it's just randomly decided from a long list every time you chose to make a favourite. Worse still, in my view, the long list has every drink type in the game. And some of them just don't feel right to me, to be randomly served up to party guests as potential favourites. Water, protein shakes, mood potions, and now with the vampire pack some special vamp drinks are in the list.

Do you really want your legacy vamp, the immortal head of a blood-sucking clan, to go to a party and be randomly served a glass of vampire cure? That don't sound very Favourite to me.

I have altered the list to serve only traditional party bar drinks as Favourites, that will make all parties the favourite of everyone. This mod does not alter the normal lists of drinks that can be made on bars at home or on community venues. It is specific only to the "Favourite" XMLs which are not the same thing as the others.

I'm not certain if this interaction is Get Together EP only, or was it patched in for all games. I would have to uninstall Get Together EP to find that out. As much as I do love thoroughness, that ain't gonna happen.

May 2022 major rework of old major rework. Gotta love Maxis.

Ah, these trays. We have been on a journey with these things, have we not? Ofttimes perilous as Maxis broke the original harmony a few years back, making me take a whole other direction to try and salvage what I could, and now come full circle, (I hope, no more going round the frikken merry-go-round with these.) as they have returned to a state much like the original where I can make more harmonious drink trays once again. With the bumpy ride over, we can now return to the smooth, straight road of drink tray wonderment.

So then, in short, I have returned to making the Mega Tray as a standalone clone, its brief purgatory of having to replace the original tray is over. Which also means it once again no longer conflicts with any other tray mods out there. Celebrations all round, the drinks are on me! On all these trays, to be precise. Enjoy.

Many new drinks types added to the Mega Tray, and, joy of joys, many new individual, independent drinks trays once again. Let the happy celebrations rumble on!

The individual trays once again, the sims will restock drinks autonomously. The Mega Tray, they do not. That's left for you to decide which drinks to serve up.

Many more drinks now than originally advertised, all the way up to the - quite big - range of Batuu drinks, and the otherwise impossible to get hold of on normal residential lots, the Paranormal SpecterSip drinks. Spooooky!

And also three special folders in the rar bundle below, for three very special reworked drinks.

A Snagglefluster tray, but a bit different than any other snagglefluster your sims may have had before. Flaming SnaggleFluster is the new name.

The StrangerVille Mamas Milk Tray. Oh, that's a good one. That's some drink, let me tell you. Just let them drink it and watch the temporary insanity ensue. The sims will never come to any permanent or long term real harm. But it's a giggle when they're a mess with it.

(StrangerVille Mamas Milk drink replaces Granny Smash drink, which did absolutely sweet FA regarding anything before the change. But see how I kept the motherhood theme alive between the two. That's me, alright. And trust me, it was the only thing worth keeping from the original drink. You lose nothing, and gain everything.)

And the Vampire Sun Protect drink. When vamps choose the perk to become sun resistant, this nice-looking chalice drink becomes redundant. Why? Now it's more than just a sun resistant thing. Filling your vamps with a little burst of solar energy, now it's a vampire version of coffee, which they like to imbibe autonomously sometimes, to fight off sleep and low energy. And they'll still get the buff to make them sun resistant for a while, even if they don't need it. So not redundant anymore! Yay!

Quick gag - What's the vampire version of caffeine? Coffine... Okay, no more bad jokes.

That's it, I'll say no more. Don't want to write a whole little novelette here, given that at any time Maxis could do a third U-turn on these things. And if so, I will scrap the project completely.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad they fixed it, it was a pretty bad glitch which they left unfixed for far too long. There is no problem with doing the flavorize action to help with boosting cooking quality, It's just the oven door animation not triggering correctly half the time, so it just looks odd. But it works fine.

This mod reduces the time it takes to brew base game tea and coffee. No sooner than the animations for pouring in the coffee beans or tea leaves are finished, than it's one or two seconds for the finished hot beverage to be poured into a mug. If using any mods to slow the speed of time, or the game is having one of its oft, "let's make sims and their animations hang for a bit, while I give priority checking that all the leaves swaying in the trees throughout the world are doing their thing," moments, then it will take a few seconds longer.

Excellent quality is the highest standard for all drinks in TS4. The mods here greatly increase the chances for skilled sims to always produce True Excellent quality drinks. No more of those Fake Excellent drinks that some bartenders serve up, that make Foodie sims have negative buffs. Now your Foodie sims will always enjoy every sip and never have negative buffs again. When only the best buffs for the best drinks will do, here are the mods that make Excellent come true.

Update - February 2018 - Due to the upcoming release of the new, reworked eating and drinking mods, for ease of access all Excellent Drink mods will be found in this single thread. All the Excellent Drink mods have been reworked with new tweaks and features, No Maid and More Sips being the notable surface changes to mention. All to coincide with the new eat & drink mods. So once that busy thread is up and filled with its new mod set, there will be direct links on its page to this thread and a couple of other threads to do with food and drink stuff. Having links to twenty-odd individual Excellent drinks threads would be silly, hence they're all coming together in here as one, big, happy Excellent family. Over to you, Bill and Ted, "Excellent...."

So, yes, "be excellent to each other." And the mods in here will certainly be doing that.

"No Maid" means maids will not be putting away the drinks into a fridge no sooner than you've spawned them on a tray or made them at a bar for your family/guests to enjoy. Give folks a chance to drink them, maid! Sheesh. Aren't there any small kitchen appliances you can go spend your time stealing instead? Off with you!

But hang on a mo? How can you have an improved, evolved fast eat and drink mod system, yet drinks have more sips and food has more bites? Much more sips and bites than default, actually? Sims must be shoving it into their faces like woodpeckers banging on a tree! Well, we'll reference Bill and Ted again for that answer, who do know something about altering time in new, mysterious and funky ways that somehow fits in seamlessly with the otherwise normal temporal workings of the universe, and its woodpeckers.

Now I know these new versions and their extra sips will not be to everyone's liking. You may not be interested in the new eat and drink mods nor the changes done here to coincide. But the XMLs used are so numerous for these mods, whether it be the original versions or these new versions, that making alternative flavours is just not a thing I'm willing to do any more, due to the release of cyclone patches every now and then. I actually thoroughly enjoy what these mods now bring to the game, especially the group meal dynamic, and how I've tweaked them into what they all do when working together. I'm not just saying that as a proud parent would with an unyielding "My Baby" affection. But as an 18 year veteran of this game I just know what I like and why I would even mod and tweak something to begin with. I know that will appeal to some, (Most folks I hope) but to others just not their cup of tea. Speaking of which...

So, now you've seen the list and hopefully have a general idea of what they do, I think it fair to mention that I do prefer playing the game on a slower default world speed. Using MCCC, I like my world to cruise along at half default speed, and that is going to have some bearing on these mods if you like playing the default time speed. Hopefully, not to any intolerable woodpecker scoffing and slurping effects. I'll also say that I am a believer in the majority vote, so I will be looking forward to feedback on this grand experiment. And as much as I'm happy with what the whole mod set does when in unison, it still might not be what the majority enjoy once you've truly experienced it all. So I'll be listening, and willing to tweak to some degrees, when I see which way the crowd prefers to go. (My way, or the highway! )

This mod allows our sims to do a much more powerful Flavorize enhancement to their ovens, and also do it much quicker. Now you can really seal the Impeccable deal for those hardest to cook meals.

As far as I know Flavorize only works for base game Homestyle and Gourmet foods. It has no effect on Baking recipes from Get To Work, and I've yet to confirm if it helps boost quality of the Cultural meals of City Living or the Herbal Remedies of Outdoor Retreat. One day I may get round to testing all the things on a very long list of things.

Hi, folks. Speaking of the Herbal Remedies of Outdoor Retreat. Dose anyone know if Maxis have fixed that awful glitch when cooking Herbals that prevents the ovens from being used? The glitch being, if a sim uses the front, right hob on the stove to cook a pot of Herbal, then after pouring it into jar and putting in inventory, a second invisible jar is created and sits on that hob. Blocking use of oven and having sims throw route fails. If you save game and reload, that second jar becomes visible and your sim can grab it. I know you should never look a gift horse in the mouth, but the rigmarole to go through just to get that glitched free jar isn't worth it. I hope it's been fixed. And the door opening animation when doing upgrades or flavorize action on an oven. I know Maxis still haven't fixed that, the oven door still stays closed most of the time, with or without mods installed.

With the City Living patch of November 2016, Maxis revamped a few older meals from the Homestyle and Gourmet ranges to be suitable for vegetarians, and maybe added a couple of new veggie meal types. I haven't checked to see if all the veggie meals are all remakes. The names of one or two of them sound new, but I honestly don't know. Nor am I entirely certain if City Living EP is a requirement for these vegetarian rehashed meals to appear in the game, or was it patched in for base game too? It would seem a bit harsh to have to buy a whole EP just to get some revamped veggie meals that are already in base game. Someone else is going to have to set me straight on that. But either way, in the new veggie recipe files here I've made the Impeccable quality easier to reach, to fall in line with the all other meals in the Homestyle and Gourmet branches that I've tweaked.

Maxis did not think it important enough to allow Cultural recipes to reach the Impeccable quality, so did not include the coding in the XMLs. I, and my Foodie sims, beg to differ. Cultural foods can and should be available for Impeccable quality. Now they are! In order for your sims to make Impeccable quality food, they will need to have the Stoves & Grills Master buyable trait.

City Living EP is a required install for this mod to be of any use in your game.

Although Maxis did include the Impeccable quality availability for Ice Cream recipes, it was set too incredibly hard. That's no exaggeration. My main Foodie sims has the all the skills, traits and aptitude to make a Michelin Star chef green with envy. Yet never once made Impeccable Ice Cream. I first thought Maxis did not include the coding again, but was surprised to see that they did. Albeit at an impossible setting. I've made it a bit easier, so that those sims with all the right skills, traits and inspired moods should be seeing Impeccable Ice Cream almost all of the time. In order for your sims to make Impeccable quality food they will need to have the Stoves & Grills Master buyable trait.

Maxis did not think it important enough to allow Baking recipes to reach the Impeccable quality, so did not include the coding in the XMLs. I, and my Foodie sims, beg to differ. Baking recipes can and should be available for Impeccable quality. Now they are! In order for your sims to make Impeccable quality food, they will need to have the Stoves & Grills Master buyable trait.

Also a new "Instant Decorate" function added for all those Baked items that can be decorated. In default play, the decorating animations can only be done on kitchen counters. If tried on any other surface the sim will have a route fail. This mod does not rework the Maxis default decorate option, it has been left intact and is still available to choose. The mod just adds a second "Instant Decorate" option, where the food is instantly decorated without any decorating animations being played out, and can be activated while food is sat on any surface. The simoleon price for this new option is a little higher than the price for the default decorating, seeing as it's instant and multi-surface adaptable. Yep, we always gotta pay more for convenience.

Maxis did not think it important enough to allow Cupcakes to reach the Impeccable quality, so did not include the coding in the XMLs. I, and my Foodie sims, beg to differ. Cupcakes can and should be available for Impeccable quality. Now they are! In order for your sims to make Impeccable quality food, they will need to have the Stoves & Grills Master buyable trait.

This mod adjust two things regarding Gourmet recipes. Firstly it makes all recipes from the Gourmet range available for Impeccable quality. By Maxis default about a third of the meals could not be Impeccable. The reasoning? Who knows. Now they all are. Plus I have made them all a little bit easier to be Impeccable, especially helpful for the skill level 10 meals that very rarely come out Impeccable, despite your sim's skills, traits and moods. In order for your sims to make Impeccable quality food, they will need the Stoves & Grills Master buyable trait.

When Maxis released Island Living patch and EP, a while ago now, they altered food (polite way of saying broke it) in a way I could not fathom at the time. And sure enough, I did plenty of bitching and whining about it in the weeks and months that followed. Maxis have tried a few fixes in their subsequent patches too, to try to remedy some of the more obviously broken elements. Like all the crap that was happening at restaurants, sims getting up not finishing food, then food miraculously being finished even if sim is not at table actually eating it. Seating bullying, where eating sim gets up mysteriously abandoning meal, but only because another sim chose their meal as the one to eat, so bullied the eating sim away with their rotten ESP Telepathy. All this and more, and I have no idea if all or some are fixed as I'm still too heartbroken to go to a restaurant for yet another kick in the balls.

Then of course there was the Island BBQ meals Maxis stole from City Living to repurpose them as "new" Island Foods, breaking food and mods in the process. And boy did I bitch about that.

It's that change they did, clumsily, that set a chain reaction to break the original 99 Servings mod beyond fixing.

That the first error to come about, was that as soon as one meal or more was taken from 99, to leave 98, (or less) after saving, quitting and loading the game again, that 98 (Or less.) plate of food would appear invisible. The food on it seemingly gone. Actually still there, and sims could eat from it if hungry, and if plate was put in inventory and back on table the food reappeared for that session. But gone the next time a lot load occurs. Invisible food nonetheless, not ideal. To this day I still have no idea why it does it for most meals, but not others. I just cannot see the pattern in the files between those meals it happens to, which is most, to the handful it does not happen to. It's got to be something in the core, Maxis did some hidden, unnecessary thing to the plate objects themselves, perhaps, I dunno.

Second error, the 99 Servings also breaks the Island BBQ, because of the bizarre way Maxis set it up. That when cooking on it, the BBQ object itself is forced to use the same Servings XMLs as food. (Eh???? You did that on purpose?!!! Surely not the best idea if you have a think about it. Did you think about it, Maxis?) So when finished cooking the meal and you want to get cooked meal to place on table, you guessed it, you keep grabbing one of 99 single meals that are part of the BBQ object (Not part of the actual meal you just cooked.) and the single meals don't actually work properly. No LEs spawn, sims just drop them on floor and cannot eat them. And the BBQ object is knackered afterwards because it no longer knows if it's a cooking utensil or is it actually now a large family meal??? BBQ needs replacing.

All in all, 99 Servings fucked beyond fixing by Island Living's devil-may-care developing and the wrecking ball it set swinging at food. No more bitching and whinging, it is what it is, just have to try a new way and live with it.

And here is that new way: Infinite Food Servings.

All family meals large or small come as 12 Servings. Those 12 Servings never reduce. Clean up, drag to bin or debug delete plate if you want it gone. Better yet, stick it in fridge or a storage box for the next time you want to use it.

This mod also effects small appliances, such as tea and coffee machines, kava bowl, popcorn maker. I dunno, it goes on and on, anything that has multiple servings. Even the Magic Cauldron and its potions. All will say 12 Servings, all are Infinite. All have a default Empty option that clears away the infinite stuff so you can make more new infinite stuff.

With tea and coffee makers, even after you empty them, the tooltip will display the last drink that was in there as 12 Servings. Just fill with different type of Tea drink to change what the tooltip says. Not ideal, but better than the glitches 99 Servings was doing with invisible food and broken Island BBQ. Tea and coffee makers can sometimes appear empty, (Like the invisible food glitch after lot load.) but given they're only meant to have three servings and you may have already told your sims to drink six, then I don't particularly care about this glitch so will not be trying to tug this damn rope again just for that. Whichever way it gets tugged, something's gonna give. This tea and coffee machine thing/tooltip thing I can live with.

BTW, from time to time you may get an LE regarding coffee or tea machines. This will happen if and when visiting/playing a house/community venue where there was tea or coffee left in machine from before you installed this mod, and a sim tries to grab that older style servings. Not so much the mod causing it, definitely not a fault with the mod, just the game is having hiccups over the servings changes. Rather than see the LE as a bad thing, see it as a helpful reminder there is a beverage machine on the lot that needs to be emptied of its old stock and refilled with new stuff, so it picks up the new servings changes. Though I have not seen other LEs for other food and drinks objects, I still advise to also clear away older family meals and empty kava bowls, popcorn machines and so on, to ensure they too pick up the new servings changes after installing this mod.

The mod here stops food and drink from ever decaying. There is already a buyable trait from Reward Store that does this. However, it does not work in all instances. Such as spawning large group meals on the buffet table, they'll come with a decay countdown no matter if the sim has the Fresh Chef trait or not. This mod makes everything non-decay from start, such that you don't need to give sims the buyable trait, especially if it's only going to half work because Maxis have not been universally thorough in the coding.

1 - What Type of Mods?

As the title suggest, this section will be for all mods relating to Food & Drink. Whether the mods are general, simple tweaks, or specialized reworks, rather than put them into other sections, it'll be best to keep them all here under a single, sensible theme.

2 - Reporting Mod Issues

If the time comes you experience errors in your game using any of my mods, please make sure to be specific in your report on the mod thread. Writing nothing more than "it no longer works," or "I did a mod elimination process and once your mod was out my game worked again," is not very helpful. These types of reports tell me nothing, especially if I am not experiencing any errors with the mod in question. As such, I will likely not respond to undetailed reports while knowing the mod is fine and doing as it should in my own game. Take it as read I would be telling you no more than it's a mod conflict. And please, if your game is not patched up to date, don't even bother reporting issues. There's nothing I can do for you if you're behind on patches for whatever reason.

An example: No Auto Play Computer Game Mod

You report - It's no longer working.

I think - In what way? Sims are playing games regardless? They won't use the computer at all? They reset trying to use computer? Game crashes if they try to use computer? Game won't load at all?!

All the while, it's still working fine in my game.

End result - I will not be responding to the report, other than qualifying it as PEBCAC. (Problem Exists Between Computer And Chair.)

3 - Things that do not need to be edited after a patch

Right then, how to distinguish genuine patch changes that need to be amended in mods, from some other ineffectual changes that the patching process or Sims 4 Studios implements into XMLs, for those helpful, would-be mod detectives who spot differences month to month and wish to report them.

While scrolling down an XML, if you spot a line of language text, in green-coloured letters, next to a long digit instance number, it is Sims 4 Studio that puts that helpful line of green text there, not Maxis. It's there only to help modders identify those long instance numbers more easily via their native language. It has absolutely no bearing or effect in game whatsoever. If I don't bother to change this on some older mods, if this new line of green text suddenly appears on an XML where it was not there before, I'd prefer folks not to tell me my mod needs updating. Technically it does not, and I will not be updating for this particular type of implementation if it's the only change on an XML. Chances are, in time, Maxis will genuinely change the code on these XMLs and I will then update it, so the mod's XMLs will eventually contain the additional line of green S4S text. All things in due time - as the old saying goes.

Also every now and then some command lines get a switcheroo treatment during a patch, which WinMerge also highlights as being different when comparing the new XMLs from those of the previous patch. The patching process may have changed a command line on the XML from something like -

<"t=hot" "n=cold"> to <"n=cold" "t=hot">

and again this has absolutely no change to the game whatsoever and I usually do not alter my mods to reflect such minimal, unimportant switcheroo text if it's the only change on an XML. Please don't tell me about these ineffectual changes either. Thanks, folks.

This set of mods began life soon after Maxis implemented a change to redress an annoyance for retired scientists. That Maxis change came about after many players complained it was just plain silly, that after a scientist retired from the career, they instantly forgot how to make serums on the Chemistry Lab object. Maxis tidied this up by introducing the "Has Been Scientist" hidden trait that is given to a retired scientist, so they may continue remembering and making serum recipes.

Nice, but what about the Robot Invention Constructor stuff? Shouldn't the same rule apply? And why just limit serums and inventions to scientists, whether employed or retired? Maybe not everyone wants to have a scientist job, but they might still want a Cloning Machine as a great help in the kitchen, or a Sixam Wormhole Generator, or a neat Raygun! And of course, the multitude of serums.

The mods here have evolved much more beyond the need of the hidden Has Been Scientist trait. To the point it is no longer required at all. They now concentrate on the hidden Male and Female traits, to open up Serums and Inventions to every sim teenage and above, to make whatever they want whenever they want, even if they don't know how to spell scientist, let alone Has Been one. So the titular "Retired Scientist" has just stuck because that's how these mods began life, even though it is no longer a true representation of what they are now. "Males and Females Can Make Stuff," would now be more apt, but I don't think as catchy.

Has Been Scientist Hidden Trait now with Icon & Text - (Debug access required.)

Even though this hidden trait is no longer strictly needed for these mods to work, I thought I'd leave this mod as part of the set because, what the hey, I made it already. What it does is give the hidden trait a more identifiable science icon, rather than the default generic llama icon, and also a text string to say "Has Been Scientist," rather than the default blank box. So now in debug options it is actually possible to identify in the traits list, if you wish to apply or remove it. Though that's now entirely up to you if you want to, as it is no longer a requirement for these mods to work. (Please see footnote on how to access and use Debug options.)

Breakthroughs All - (Debug access required.)

While in the science career, your sim will steadily earn these highly needed Breakthroughs, up to a maximum of 21 Breakthroughs, so as to finally make all serums, inventions and be able to upgrade those high end inventions. Normally only scientists can earn Breakthroughs. There is also a debug cheat where you can give your scientists some, or all, of the Breakthroughs. But again, only if they are in the scientist career. This mod opens up that debug cheat to be available for all sims Male and Female, so they can be given the maximum 21 Breakthroughs, so they may create serums, inventions and do important upgrades on those inventions. All that is required is that they are either Male or Female teenage or above. No more "Has Been Scientist" trait or science career needed. (Please see footnote on how to access and use Debug options.)

Robot Invention Constructor Create & Faster Creating and Upgrading Inventions

This mod allows Males and Females with all Breakthroughs to make and upgrade any invention they like. And to also talk with and befriend the Robot part of the constructor machine.

Update July 2018 - This mod now tweaked so sims create and upgrade inventions much, much quicker. Over three times faster. Just hurry it up already! Life's too short. Especially if you're a sim.

Chemistry Lab Create

Male and Females with all Breakthrough can make all serums. Try not to kill granddad making him drink those crazy concoctions, eh? Also the "Experiment" function and "Push Big Red Button" function are also opened up for anyone to try. Experiment is primarily there for proper scientists to earn Breakthroughs while on the job. For non-scientists it is nothing more than a waste of time. But some of your requested it, so here it is. Push Big Red Button? Good luck with that...

Inventions No Ingredients Needed

These recipe XMLs also needed the Male and Female code injection, too, for them to work for anyone. But I also thought the fact that we need special Elements as part of the ingredients, than can only be acquired through sending off rocks and crystals in the mail, and waiting for the Elements to come back the next day, so how the heck do scientists do that down at the Labs when it's up on the Daily Task Bar to create an invention? That wasn't thought through particularly well. The original idea for no invention ingredients needed was from a mod by the excellent NightTorch.

Serums No Ingredients Needed

And again the Male and Female code needed to be injected into the serum recipe XMLs. And after that, just to keep it in line with the invention recipes, I also made them as no ingredients needed, just like the NightTorch original mod.

Get To Work EP is a required install for these mod to be of any use in your game. All mods here, except one, are required together for it all to be successful in your game. They do need each other, except for the Has Been Scientist Trait with icon and text. That mod is now optional. Though I still use it in my own game. After all, I still like to identify the trait in the list, and out of professionalism I still actually apply it to sims, even though it is no longer necessary to do so.

December 2018 - Constructor Room - Uploaded on request. After Seasons patch, when placing a new constructor machine on a lot, all its functions were/are greyed out and no sim can use it. This happened in my game as well as all others. Of course I checked this mod to see what new, inexplicable fubar occurred, and I found no fault with the mod. Yet all new constructor options were greyed out. However, playing households that had working constructors that pre-dated the patch, the constructors were fine. And all new non-scientist sims with the help of the Breakthroughs mod were still perfectly capable of using older, pre-patch constructor machines. WTF? That's not an issue with a mod then, is it. I then tried a trick to place a working constructor into a small room, copy room to my library, then place cloned room into any new homes to see if it would work. Bingo, it did, no greyed-out options. Cloned constructor works every time. Definitely not a mod issue. So I'm uploading that same cloned room here for you to try the same trick for placing a "new" constructor on newly built lots. In case you have no constructors in your world that predate the Seasons patch. I can only hope the constructor survives the uploading/downloading process and the trick works the same in your game as it does in mine. Feedback on this will be very welcome. Place files in your Tray Folder then find small room in your library. You will have to check the Unhide CC box to see it in your library as with these mods it is considered a modded CC object/room.

To find weerbesu's updated version, open comments section on clown's mod, go to page 26, post #627 and see weerbesu's link.

With debug options made available, hold down Shift Key and click on sim for the hidden debug pie menu options to display. With this Breakthroughs All mod installed, all sims teenage and above will have a pie menu option called "Scientist..." Open that to find another option "All Breakthroughs" and click to apply. The Breakthroughs Light Bulb icon and sound effect should next appear over the sim's head to indicate they are maxed out and ready to start creating stuff.
