  1. @coolspear Requesting new mods is against site rules, but asking for an addition to, a combo, or a new flavor of an existing mod is not unless the request is unrelated to the mod the person is requesting the addition too. For example, asking for no fires to be added to your no running mods would be allowed because fires on on the same XML as running and the no running mod already exists. Asking for no autonomous yoga mat to be added to your no running mods would not be allowed because they do not share the same XML and the yoga mat has nothing to do with running.

However, you are never ever required to fulfill allowed requests and you can post a "No Requests Period" rule in your section.

ok as a gay person homo isn't a slur calm down homie

As Nellas said, it is a violation of our rules and not tolerated.

The use of homo may not bother you, but it bothers a lot of people. I have received several PMs and emails thanking me for not allowing the word to be used because it bothers them. As the mother of a gay man, it bothers me. Regardless of who it bothers, homo is a derogatory term for a gay man. That makes it a slur. Period.

Also here's a piece of friendly advice for you @rcgional, don't tell the owner of a site to "calm down homie" when they are nicely asking someone to follow the rules. Most site owners will ban you for that.

  3. @islarose You didn't cause any trouble. I was merely asking you not to provide feedback on old mods. I wasn't mad or upset. Unfortunately we have to point out to folks not to use mods until they've been proven compatible a lot, because folks just don't know that it's a potential problem. We also spend a lot of time helping folks fix their games after they've played with mods that were incompatible. I was trying to prevent problems for everyone (you included).

It's perfectly understandable why you posted feedback on a mod (now that you've explained). It was never my intention to prevent you from posting, and I hope that you will continue to post here.

Oddly enough, it seems the only issue with the old mods (not sure when I downloaded them) is the employee uniform not being activated (for NPCs and player sims) - the other features still seem to work fine (from what I can tell)

When you mention that an un-updated mod seems to work, people read that and assume that it is safe to use and it may not be. Whether you were trying to encourage others or not, that's exactly what happens. You may be a game producer who knows to back up game files, but not everyone does. I try very hard to make sure the mods people get here are safe and the info is accurate. I can't do that when folks are posting unsafe and possibly inaccurate information.

Yes, you needed to be reprimanded because you broke a rule. This is directly quoted from the Asylum Rules page:

*Do not post that a mod is/seems to be working before the creator has a chance to check the code.

As the Administrator and site owner it is my job to make sure the rules are followed. I wasn't snarky or rude, I politely did my job.

If you can confirm the exact time between decay stages the default rate is currently at, then I'll know for certain if that's why I abandoned it. But it all seems a bit fishy, if you'll pardon the pun. If it is a default 24 hours per quality decay, then that's all my mod ever did originally anyway. I could upload it as is, - (as it always was) - but it's exactly the same as the Maxis value now.

My sim caught a fish at 11:46 am and the tool tip said the Freshness was excellent. At 6:35 am the next morning, 19 hours later, the tool tip said freshness was average. So it's not quite 24 hours, but it's close enough that I don't need a mod for it. Thank you for checking into it for me!

  6. @darky0341 please don't use the word "homo". We have a wide variety of people here, and everyone is welcome. It also violates our rule against hate speech.

      * No spamming, flaming, personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, slurs, or racism, by PM, Email, or Post. This will not be tolerated and you will be warned once. Second offense results in an automatic, immediate, and permanent ban.

  7. @Simtastic72 No one was talking down to you. Great8Girl was just being nice, trying to be helpful, and explaining how things work around here. A lot of people play test mods so we always explain why that is a bad idea. Children aren't allowed here, so we never speak like they are. I'm going to assume you are having a bad day and that's why you misunderstood her intent.

Also, when you can't see someone's body language or facial expression it's hard to determine their tone. You thought she was being condescending when she was being helpful. Your comment sounds snotty and rude to me, but I'm sure that's not how you meant it. Please keep that in mind when reading or replying to posts. We're a friendly group here, we don't talk down to anyone. Thanks!
