I haven't been patching for a while. I'm currently testing a theory that the Game File Corruption comes in the frikken patches. I have had four of my Game Files corrupted over the past 18 months or thereabouts. And every time directly after a patch. The first time I ever had Game File corruption was with the patch that forces the remake of five houses in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs. The Goth house, Landgraab house, Spencer Kim Lewis house, and a couple of others. That patch totally messed up my save. In that save my main sim was becoming the global landlord with the residential rentals. It was going fine till that patch. Anyway, since then I have been forced to make brand new world saves four times, and every time after a fucking patch kills it. Every time it's Willow Creek and Oasis Springs that are hit the worst for many, many players. Anyone see the connection there?
So for the last two months I have made a fifth new save file. My main sim is back on the trail of being a global landlord. And since not patching, it is going extremely well. But it started life as a test file. Though has grown more and more as an enjoyable game to play. So I'm kinda dreading patching again.
However, the upcoming patch (May 12) I do intent to install. Though not immediately. I always give it a week or so, to see what social media is reporting about the patch, to also wait for S4S to be updated for the patch. I'll also be trying a few tricks with this current save file to see if I can help avoid it getting corrupted. Such as it will not be in my game folders when I do patch. An old corrupted file will be there ready for Maxis to mercilessly attack. Then after patch I will start yet another new save file. Play it for five minutes. Then, clear all of that out and put my true save file in. If Maxis and their refreshed houses (That are in every patch, and hit your game every time you do patch) still manage to corrupt the save file, make a bollocks of Willow Creek and Oasis Springs for a fifth time, kill my sim's landlord empire yet again, than I don't know what the future holds. Something along the lines of just not playing the game again until Maxis and their patches finally fuck off - if ever.
